Growing In clear pots?

I've had a lot of plants grown in clear "Solo" cups. They work just fine but of course it's better with coloured containers to block out the light.
Clones, right?
You can get away with some things with clones that you can't get away with a teen or adult.
I figure that a clone is going to be in its birthing container for less than two weeks so it doesn't matter much.

Yes and seeds. Like some other guy posted in the thread. You could go all the way through flowering in any clear size container as long as you're going the sterile route. Not optimal of course but you can grow healthy plants this way.

Sure, and I could sell my truck and buy a mule ... but why?
Why create a situation that you now have to adjust to?
My plants don't grow in a sterile lab.

Just spend $1.83 and get a solid black pot ... or $3.50 and get a smart pot.

Haha why are you feeling butthurt by that comment? I just told you what's possible, not more or less. I'm out! Good luck! :eyesmoke:

Hurt feelings? Me?
Over a discussion about potting containers?
LMAO

I am not that sensitive. My skin is not paper thin. I am not a unicorn.
And, on a message board, 'talking' to people I don't know and never will ...
I have no feelings.

I have zero investment here.

You clearly have wrong intentions then. It took me years and years of studying and trial and error before even making my first post at this site. I'm here to give something back to the community. Go ahead being a cold as fuck if you want to be!

Well, we different then.
I dive in.
I don't stand back and watch 'for years and years'.
I ask questions and give impressions asking to be challenged, so that I can learn.
That's me.

A discussion is just that.
How personal do you need to get over clear vs. opaque containers?
How much 'feelings' do I need to learn about containers?

Do you need a hug?
A Midol?

I think you need feelings to understand your own learning process. Keep on being a fool then! You read up then you ask questions. You're just making a fool out of yourself

I haven't 'read up' on containers recently.
A good definition of a fool is one who acts and reacts without knowing why.

I have been growing this plant for over four decades.
I started when the gov't started spraying Paraquat on the Mexican fields in the mid 70's.

Started in the back yard with a plant - I was 20. And the legal penalty back then was 5 years for one plant.
I've grown outdoors; in 1000 plant gorilla grows in Northern California.
I've grown indoors; in 300 plant operations.
I owned and operated the second largest cloning operation in N Cali, delivering over 1000 babies a week to collectives and growers from Sacramento to Mt. Shasta.

I do not know everything about this plant. Nobody does. But, there is a chance (a seemingly slight one I am beginning to think) that you know more about something that I do. So ... I ask questions.
I challenge positions. I want to know 'why'.
I seek someone who can change my mind. (it happens)

IF all you want to do is talk to people who agree with you, people who don't ask questions of your positions .... then do us both a favor and put me on iggy right now.

I've grown in transparent containers before (to be able to check on roots) and it didn't hurt the roots at all. However It's been said that one should avoid these to prevent algae growth which may not be helpful.
Organic grows need a higher soil temp so black pots are best.

Dryness will kill a cannabis root swiftly

JK/ Would you trade your milk cow for a billy goat?
Do you go outside without a raincoat when it rains?
Why create a situation where you could catch a cold?
I wouldn't be caught dead using just any old container laying around the house.
You must spend money to successfully grow cannabis! /JK:)

Sometimes things need to be tested by iwn hands. I had a new mykko product and wanted to test it and compare to a container not using it.
It's also cool to see when clones got rooted as I use lightmix soil for this. In rockwool the roots will stick out, too, get exposed to light 24/0 and still grow further if there's water or max humidity.

from what ive seen with my roots in the past. they like growing to the outer parts of the pot and spiral around leaving the center mass or soil with out many roots. fabric pots apparently fixes that. being in a clear pot would expose most of the roots to light. maybe that would do the same as fabric pot by kind of air pruning the roots but with light instead. or not and ill just stunt root growth.

When I first started growing I was using 2 liter coke bottles that are clear. The roots grew to the sides like normal. Only difference was algae growth in the bottle.
and .... you can make a SIP grow with a 2 liter too.
Sometimes a container is just a container.
