Growing in pvc pipe.

My apologies if this is in the wrong place, this is a massive site and can be confusing where what thread should go.
Anyways....
Has anybody viewing this grown in pvc pipe instead of normal(?) Pots? I have a couple that I think are a little root bound, and my space is running out fast with huge pots. I am hoping that I can make a long cylindrical pot made from pvc. But I am a little worried that the roots will try to go out instead of down, or just something going wrong. I have uploaded a picture to show my situation. The one on the left has been this height for about 2 weeks with no change, and the other is beginning to slow down now. I can see root tips trying to come through the water holes on the bottom of the pot. I know they need more room, but fark!! I have no room left!
I am hoping I can use pvc pipe as I can put elbows in it and make a longer pot without losing too much room.
I hope this make sense to somebody!

Why not just go get some pots? Standard nursery pots are a dollar usually for five gal

They don't look like are anywhere near big enough to be root bound. You may have a few exploratory roots down deep but I think ull find that the main space for the root ball will be fine.

Yes, ur idea should be fine. Lotsa air holes drilled in will help to.

Did you see the lack of room between the plant and light?
With pvc pipe I can have mega long roots, and have them going around corners via pvc elbows etc. If I have a pot, the roots go to the bottom. End of story.
If I can have longer roots, I can have a taller plant which I can grow sideways, as you might be able to see that I am doing that to the right one. In this enclosure, I think I am better off using pipe instead of pots. I work in a hardware store, and pvc stuff is so freaking cheap for me!
