is ph of water important to measure when growing in soil?

how much of an effect does it have on the ph of soil?
Yes. It’s really important to the get the proper ph down. Otherwise your risking nutrient lockout. Soil is generally 6-7ph and hydro/coco is generally 5.0-6.0.
when Igrew my last run in soil I kept it all at 6.4ph and they loved it. I’m in coco now and keep it around 5.8 and they are loving it also.
so yes. Ph balance before giving to plants

If you add dolomitic lime to your soil, you don't have to worry about PH.

Herb and Suds is right. A little searching will tell you all about it. But the big benefits of searching is what you will learn as you look for your answer.

True. But it's much easier than it sounds. A little molasses once a month will do.

When I make my soil, I add a cup of turbinato sugar to a bag of soil and that's lots. What the microbes eat are the carbs.

When I cook my soil, I use oatmeal.

Thank you, that's what I had heard, but I have zero soil experience. I thought you fed your microbes who fed your plants. That's one of the big reasons I'm still in hydro.
I don't even give molasses or anything sugars for brewing anymore. It's gets a nice froth without it when brewing a decent tea.

does adding oatmeal to your ammended/cooking soil help the process? I currently have something similar to subcools recipe cooking in my garage and have seen oatmeal pop up a few times in my research.

I’ve grown in soil for 15 years , I use to PH at the beginning but for the last 10 years or so I haven’t, I repot 3 times in total so I can get away with feeding it just water until mid flowering then I give it a little bloom feed which has enough nitrogen to keep the fade away or top dressing with new soil if I have some left.

Oatmeal/sugars are just carbs. Oatmeal (stone cut) are a slower food source for microbes I think. I just don't want to add sugars to my soil because it attracts ants, and ants will acidify the soil.

Never listen to anyone who makes the blanket statement that your water PH isn't important in soil. Everyone's soil and water is different. Some people have such alkaline water they constantly scrape lime scale off of everything. Another variable is the amount of buffer you have in your soil. In your specific situation you may need to PH your water every time, it's impossible to say without knowing the specifics.
