Growing late in northern california

Yo... Hope everyone is well.

So, NO ONE had clones or anything this year, up until a couple weeks ago. lol So, I said fuck it, and planted 2 blackberry kush and 2 kandy/sweet kush in some pots and have them outside.

Now, I have grown outside here many times, and usually start around end of may, and harvest late october/early nov..

My question is, I know they will produce SOMETHING, but I have to imagine I only have about 2-3 more weeks of veg before they go into bloom. I see a couple of hairs, but they were there when I got the clones. No actual preflowers yet.

What do you guys think? Anyone here have any stories about planting late?

I did last year at this time with some good sized teens like 2 feet tall they all grew about a foot then induced flower,
they stretch and I ended up with 9 good sized 5 to 6 footers

I was pretty happy with those results for such a late crop it was only like a 3 month grow.

Nice, but these arent 2 foot teens. They are just clones. They just got over their transplant shock (although, the kandy kush doesnt like it outside, and Im still hardening them to get used to full sunlight). Im not holding my breath. lol. I mean, its still basically 2.5+ months before harvest time around here, so hopefully, even when they start flowering in a couple of weeks, they will still get a little bigger before the upward growth stops.

They just took a while to get comfy outside. Its now day 10, and the kandy kush hates direct sunlight (they droop, perk up right after taken out of direct light), and the blackberry seems to be ok with it, but is not really growing at all. I mean, they should be growing at least a bit now after 10 days, right? I see a LITTLE bit of what looks like nute burn, but I think its probably burn from the sun, as the soil has no food in it (actually the NPK was said to be at like .009, .007, .0010... which, if Im not mistaken is SUPER low). I have not fed them any food, and they arent dead. lol.

Sounds like you need more friends or sources if you couldn't find clones until now ? If One really wanted a good start I'd at least be sure I had seeds and not leave my self hanging ?

This is what I need to do. It's so hard to time a late start and hope they reach 5-6 ft strain and climate dependent . My shit always gets to big on a May inground start. Gonna try going out on the first of june and germ mid may ?

I always start in May (check my other massive grows in the forums), but again, not having clones, and going through a move, I just didnt have time, space, or opportunity until recently.

Im not looking for people telling me that I should have planted early. Im VERY well aware of that:

Just looking to see if anyone else has started late and what their results were. :)

Seriously it's like cheating ha, yea I got kinda lucky with them getting as if as they did.
i know that with this new strain if been using these past two grows could do it.
it always triples in size from the stretch. it's xxx o.g and comes out really nice mabey not the biggest yielder but I like her.
pits the plants I'm actually running in my outdoor thread all of them.
those small ones in the ground and the one in the 15 gallon pot all where switch to flower at about a foot and there all like 2.5
to 3 feet now and 3 weeks into bloom they should stop growing up but I think they should finish at 3 feet.

I sure wouldn't mind doing a late start with this strain like 100 3 footers in rows would be super easy to manage instead of
staking up huge monster buds ha.

I know what you mean about the may starts too that giant on in my back yard started in may and I'm like wtf do I do I keep having to top her so the neibors can't see haha.

But yea seriously you should be ok with the clones just harden em off well and put em in the ground if you can.

I would veg them indoors for a couple weeks. Get them outside by mid Aug. Keep them in the shade for the first week outside then move them into the sun. I just did that same thing. I got behind. I'm lst-ing the shit out of them to keep them short.

Yeah that's the best idea right there
i wanted to throw together a late grow and planned to do exactly that veg to about
2 feet then your for sure would get some nice 4 to 5 footers and your harvest would just be a little later like mid november.

If you veg under good strong 1000w's hps(not mh) indoors first, then you don't have to worry about the transition to sun light. They will take off as soon as they get outdoors.

Umm, thats NOT late. Like, not at all. Hopefully yours go well, too. Lol. I really hope I get a little herb out of it. Next year Im moving in to a house with my girl, and we are growing a HUGE crop that will make my 08 and 09 looks like vegetable gardens at an elementary school. :)

If you read, I said that they are already outside. And why would I want to keep them short? Thats like, the complete wrong way. I NEED them to veg hard before they kick into full flowering.

For real. That actually doesnt sound bad. I wouldnt mind doing on outdoor SoG late in the season. Ill keep that in mind for next year.

Yeah. That camera was my ex's. The crop after that was WAY WAY BETTER.

Ok. so everyone that is telling me to veg inside first..... THEY ARE ALREADY OUTSIDE, WE CANNOT PUT UP A LIGHT IN THE HOUSE, AND ITS TOO LATE TO VEG FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND THEN MOVE OUTDOORS AND STILL HAVE VEG TIME UNDER THE SUN. hahaha. c'mon guys.

Again, just looking for experience with this, not guesses. :)

Or if you really want them to veg longer, just put some clamp lights outside with some cheap 27w CFL's and extend the photoperiod to prevent them from flowering. Then when you wanna flower them, take down the lights. But you say they've already been outside for 10 days? Might be hard to undo that.

I said vegging indoors would be the best idea starting late in the season. Plants start flowering in August. I said I keep them short. I have too. Short fences. I just said what I was doing after I said veg indoors. Other than that. There's not much else you can do. Just grow them. They will get as big as they get. Next year you will be more prepared.
