“You grow don’t you? I have a grow light thing I want to give you. My dad wouldn’t let me grow pot with it.”

Your dad? Dude, how old are you?

“Well 45 but I bought this in 1993.”

This is what was in this huge pentagonal box 48” long. I’m picturing this kickass hood and I’m gathering everything for a second tent this winter. 26 years old. Back in the box and off to the Salvation Army with this thing. Maybe pirate the pump.

Absolutely, it's a piece of history. If it's still in the original box I'll bet somebody on ebay would buy it. I started growing with a Photron 1 in' 87 or '88. If I had one now I would grow a houseplant in the living room or a nice cherry tomato plant.

My landlord will get it and grow tomatoes in it. It’s in the shipping box but nothing with the name or logos.

LMAO I started growing with those things over 30 years ago- and then gave up on them in favor of 1000W HPS shortly thereafter!

Thanks for the memories, lol

I moved to Del Norte CO in 82. Knew right away that outdoor would probably not work. Late Spring freezes and early hard freezes in Fall. High Times was the rag then. Crude too. Read that hydroponics was the new rage. Bought a kit that claimed it had everything but the water and seeds.

I got a magnetic ballast, this round reflector like you see in chickenhouses, 400 watt HPS bulb, a few small bottles of concentrated plant food and a huge kitty litter box with bags of red barbecue grill lava. Rinse that shit first by the way. Oh and this cheap shit pump. The box went over 70 pounds for sure. I was pissed. I mean you could have grown 1 decent plant probably if you staked it up in that shallow ass pan. I just filled buckets with soil from the farm I was working on. It sucked. Had to mix more and sawdust was the only thing I could think of that would keep it from compacting into adobe. There was a steep learning curve for this guerilla grower.

I bought their nutrient slurry for a year or two before I discovered that Miracle Gro worked just as well lol

I have made hundreds of gallons of turquoise ambrosia for my plants and carried it in. 3 gallons at a time usually. I have grown some damned good smoke with those crystals. In the 60’s what else could you get? You got life for growing in Texas so it wasn’t like you could ask. But I did learn that anything that feeds dahlias in bloom will work fine with weed.
