Growing Sage indoors

Anybody ever grow sage?

I'm wondering if it would be possible to produce enough under a 250w HID lamp to keep a local head shop stocked with little smudge bundles. They retail at $5, seems like I could wholesale em for $2. It looks like you could produce a shit-ton (in technical terms) from a single plant.

I wouldn't bother trying to grow then under a a 250w lamp. The space it covers isn't worth it since you could do around the same with enough lights equaling 250w covering more area.

I don't see why you couldn't grow sage with a 250w hid. I have romain, marigolds, and various seedlings under 250 right now. Thats with a 3gal smartpot sitting in there as well. 3x3x6.

It's going to be a lot smaller than most of those smudge bundles you find in stores, those are likely outdoors. I've had a pair of sage growing for about 6 weeks and they're about 8" high. I could probably make a pathetic little pinner smudge stick with what I've got now. lol. I think unless you are going to shelf around your entire grow area it wouldn't pay off, esp. at $2 wholesale bundles. It does grow VERY quickly outside, maybe start some inside and transplant into bigger pots/in the yard, and move outside. :)

He wants to use a 250w lamp to grow sage that he will be selling for $2 per bundle. He would have to sell around 7 bundles per month just to cover his power bill and that doesn't include the water bill, plant food and such. So in the end he might have to sell 10 bundles per month maybe up to 12 bundles per month. Don't forget you have to spend more money on the cooling to run the 250w lamp so you spending more money for cooling.

If he wants to run 250w he's better off running 13w to 45w CFLs.

In the end yes he can use a 250w lamp to grow sage but selling it at $2 per bundle will more then likely cost him more money then what he will make and won't be worth it.

I see what you are saying. Maybe he can pull it off and be the local sage barron? lol. I have enough Romain for the wife and I to have cesaer salad tonight for dinner. Straight out from under the 250w. That's enough to make me happy. I'm think I'm going to end up being the neighborhood tomato Don this year from my outdoor containers.
