Growing sativa Dom outdoors

I have one heavy sativa strain this year that's had me excited since sprout. I just wonder what's everyone's opinion on growing heavier sativa's outdoors. From what I know from experience is dont overwater lol. But I love the thin structure yet large leaves and fast growth. Overall very photogenic.

Heres my sour diesel.

I'm at 38N, in the North Bay of California, ocean grown territory. I've taken heavy sativa's to the first week in December, during drought, without rain, and they have never finished. Twelve feet and standing on the top rung of an 8 ft. ladder to inspect is not my idea of fun.
The problem is, the ground continues to get colder, even without rain, and the plant just stops developing. Never again. If you're at the Mexico border, you might be able to finish.

Iv gotten away with November but it wasn as 'stringy' as this SD

I grew one of those out about 5 years ago a feminized one from that Netherland seed bank. It finished but the leaf was a bit more indica looking. It will finish enough to press some nice colored rosin,If that's your thing

Reminds me of being on some tropical island.

A friend of mine successfully harvested nearly 10lbs dry from one sativa he was LST'ing all along the ground. It got massive. He was in Nevada at the time. He harvested in December.

I'm wonder if it has anything to do with pheno because this is the only one with these extremely thin bladed leaves. Reminds me of blue dream.

The structure of the plant? Yeah. It's by far different than the rest which makes her eye candy. It doesn't get bone chilling till around November. Plus shes in my cage so I can tarp it in the winter if needed.

Yes blue dream, 2 of our sour Diesels have fat leaves, so does my sour Tangie diesel with Tangie

My sour diesel has super thin bladed leaves. I'll post new pics of leaves ina bit.
Everything else I'm growing is mainly indica Dom 2 sativa Dom and this sour diesel which looks like a skeleton compared to the rest.

I grew 3 different sativa-dominant hybrids last year outdoors in Maine. All finished but it's dicey up here in October. Not so much the cold but the dampness in October can promote bud rot. For me it was probably beginner's luck--although I took very good care of the plants, too.

The Chinook Haze didn't get harvested until a couple days before Halloween. The other strains (Copper Chem, Orange Blossom Special) finished a week or so before. The Chinook Haze had virtually zero but rot--but OBS and CC started developing some spots in the final weeks that had to be cut out.

A more northerly sativa well suited to the North American continent and places in Europe and elsewhere is one of the handfull of genetics that hasn't been checked off of the consumer oriented market list.

But they no doubt have got people on it, continuously on it.

Who will be the first person that creates a Sativa that does very well and finishes in time? I can't answer that but that feller is going to be a rich, rich man (or woman).

Ak-47 is the best one I can think of. And its been around a long while.

And it finishes in 7 to 7 1/2 weeks. Sort of has the effects of the sativa, although not close enough to the real thing, like SourBreath or other one. But it does exceptionally well in this climate. Its easy to grow, provides nice smoke, and decent yield. Just, not a sativa.

Thats impressive. It could remind me of the one I mentioned earlier. The thing dominated the guys bungalow house. He started tent pegging and tying it down, then tying it down, and tying...

In the end it was wraped halfway around the house and had to be10 foot taller if it was a foot...LOL

There are some tall tall tales abound about the sativa plant, yes sir and all true .

Iv only grown this strain indoors she finishes in 12 weeks. So let's hope flower starts July yeah. Lmao

That Chinook Haze reached 10 feet--if I hadn't topped it several times it probably would've broken 12.

What's your latitude?
My sativas didn't start flowering until mid-August, the Chinook didn't really get going until almost September.

So cal north Los Angeles

So that means your nights will start getting long enough to induce flowering before my nights, depending on strain, so in theory you might finish sooner than I did. All strain specific, of course.

It sounds like it tolerates the elements outside fairly good also.

I like the name its fitting. It doesn't suggest delicate sativa or exotic anywhere.

When a bean pops up with extremely different characteristics then the normal expected phenos is always exciting
