4 1/2 ft x 9ft indoor grow room , 12 plants, ebb & flow 12 site system. What are some cheap but very effective lighting systems that can be used for both vegetative and flowering stage and why. Preferably LED's

in led cheap equals quick death of the lights
the only plants u can use both grow and flower are autos ............other wise the yeilds will be off (photos need that red light and the 12 12 timing)
as for who is good
Black Star and Black Dog are the 2 best rated LED makers ............it does cost but they will work for the full 50,000 hours
new ppl on the market is Apollo.
i ordered myself one of theses but i will not get it until next week

Do you think 8 T5's would work well in this grow considering the size of the room and amount of plants?

the t5s work well for a low yeild ...........they can not get the depth
honestly u should get the LED or a HID light system .........with what u have it would be a investment the final part
hid lights are fairly good and the bulbs get u 20,000
1 do not buy a dimable those will damage the bulbs ..........get a programable or SELECT A WATT (they ad select a watt)
2 MH light is for the growth and HPS is for flower ........your size room would need 2 lights .....600w would be good

I would put two 1000 watt hps lights in there and air cool them.
Anything else is just playing around torturing plants.

Sorry about all the questions im fairly new to this. So your saying i should go with 2 600 Watt metal halide for veg and 1000 watt hps for flowering?

no worries new is good........if u do not understand something ask it how u learn (ppl give u shit about asking they are assholes with no redeemingvalue so no biggie)
if u got yourself a select a watt yes that would be the best choice ........i know of this one ( i own it and love it yes it is little more then normal but the design of it and how it works is honestly worth it .......400 600 or 1000w prechecks before lighting the bulb up built in timer remote to use across room)
cooltube hood ..........this hood is 2 foot wide this will cover your tent very very well with 2 of them (the tops are hard allowing u to lay a cord or other things ontop of it)
veggie run it a 600w MH and when u flip it to flowering go with a 1000w
snaps it is only 4.5 feet wide a 1000w all the time 2 of them is even to much over kill for me ............if he does the 600 for the growth he will get a nice tight node set and as it streches hit it with the 1000w for the depth
guy think of it like this anything u spend on gear now what u have in that tent will recoop it for it

figure out the cost of the seeds/power/feed
times it by 1 to recover the cost
times it by 2 to double up for next grow
times it by 3 times for your trouble and time
so the plants cost u 90 bucks .......3 x 90 280 round up to a even 300 every oz u make off the plants will sell to other ppl for 300 ........i just did a hydro exp it gave me 11 oz 3300 and still has atleast 8 more left to cut 2400

Get 2 x 1000w dimmable ballasts
Use 2 x 600w MH (with the ballast dimmed to 600w) for VEG
and 2 x 1000w HPS (with the ballast on 1000w) for FLOWER.
4.5 X 4.5ft is about perfect size for the above lights.
But you'll need cool tubes attached to a 6" fan
and an 8" fan and carbon filter for air exchange and odour.
Keep us informed (better with pics)
and we'll pardon the questions.

not dimmable ...........select a watt
dimmable only reduces the power going tho the cord to the light ...........it is not correct amount or pulses for the lights so it shortens the life span of the light
a 1000w dimmable that is 100% 75% 50% so 1000w 750w and 500w only one bulb matches and that is the 1000w at 100% power everything else is off ........too strong or too weak
