My seed sprouted and its pretty long so i planted it indoors today and what i need to know is do i keep my light on it all day 24/7 until it pops out of the ground or do i just turn off the light and water when needed and let it pop out of the soil?

thanks !

Keep the light on it, the heat from the light will help, and when it pokes its head above ground it can immdeiatly start photsysthesis.

I would keep the lights off until it breaks the soil (couple days). Water the soil once when you plant it and it will be moist enough until it comes up.

i say light, so u dont got to worry about turning it on right when it pops, also it warms the soil which ive found hastens the process

See i was doing this for a day straight but it made the soil dry before the day was over...

Just keep adding more water until it pops the move my light higher?

Never mind I see your in soil there,

As for your light, that a CFL flood light right?

not a incadesent??? cause if its incadesent That is Bad...

And I highly doubt one CFL is drying out a pot full of soil.

I would say have patience, and dont overwater....

That looks like a regular spot light. If it is that would heat up the soil for sure, but once the plants pop up they will fry in a short amount of time. If it is a regular spot better go get an cfl and even better get an adapter for 2 bulbs. You can put cfl's real close to your plants once they get some real leaves.

What does a humidome do?

It lets the light through while keeping moisture inside. People use all kinds of stuff to provide a dome. Anything clear with some holes for air will work. Even glass (careful), just leave a gap for air, and get the cfl.

Better yet google up humidome and see what you think.

Of course you can find info in the GrowFAQ at the top of this page.

A good start will go a long way. :hump:

I'll check back, see you later man.

i hope thats not incandescent, if it is thats why ur getting the dry soil, those things are hot as fuck, get some flouro tubes in there; shop lights are 8 bucks at homedepot and one could veg your plant until its about a foot tall, then ull have to worry about more light, good luck brotha

That light will kill your plants.

There are only three types of acceptable light to use for growing pot.

Flourescent (tubes or CFL's)
HPS light
MH light.

eeeek, "heat" lamp, thats ur bloody fuckin problem right there, cfls or tubes are what you should be usin if ur tight on cash, all you'll get with that are strecthy burnt ass plants, i likes flouro tubes better my self cause you can get more plants closer to the light source, good luck brotha

youre looking for cfls which are the spirally bulbs, veg is the veggatative state, basically for seed or clone until 12/12 or hairs

Most Walmarts carry GE but the brand does not matter.
Just get some cool white cfl bulbs and some clamp lights. I bought some clamp lights just last night for under $6.50 at Walmart.
As for the bulbs get the highest wattage you can. What is just as important is the kind of bulbs.
Get cool white for vegging and soft light for blooming. Look on the package for lumens and kelvins, some packages will not show these, and they are more important than wattage really. You need a certain amount of lumens in the grow area.
Here is why.
The soft white is 2700k and could be lower if you can find them, but most likely you won't at Walmart or Home Depot. I found these at Home Depot.
This is what they are packaged in at the store.

You should do some reading in the GrowFAQ's area too.
