I'm not so sure about that. Here in Vegas there has been more than one property crime solved with a gun and most of them were called justifiable homicide, The main contributing factor has to be the deceased had to be construed as a threat. I am full aware of what laws apply to gun deaths and would not put my self in jeopardy either of death or prison, and you're right I couldn't just shoot him in the car, I'd have to get to him before he got in the car. Better that way anyway, no blood in the car. The problem with them stealing your car is, you never make out, it always cost you money. Either deductables, or the replacement vehicle is never as nice as your old one. And no, it would not be easier to let him steal all your guns and valuables, credit cards and stock certificaters etc, do you have any idea what a giant pain in the ass that would be. I say if someone has the balls to crash into your house and try and catch you un awares, then he must face my .45acp when I come out of my office with it in hand. Hopefully, I'll get to my gun first, and believe me when I say that if an unknown intruder came crashing through my front door, I'd shoot first and ask questions later!

Yes med', although an aggravated burglary could actually be construed as a threat to your life. Shooting someone for stealing your car is not right. What if it was just some kid (most car thieves)?

No, I did not read the entire thread, only your post. (The thread was 22 pages long.) I'm sure your follow up points were excellent- I simply wanted to drop my 2 cents.

And for what its worth, I would most likely shoot someone if I caught them trying to steal my car. Even if it was teenager.

An argument for stricter gun control if ever I've heard one. To kill a teenager... well, there's nothing more I can say to you. Only, you don't deserve the right to a weapon and you need some help...

what if i was speeding on your street where children play. would you kill me for the safety of the children?
guns freaks seem to be just that.
you all are really changing my opinion. that is why i have yet to vote.

i'm starting to lean towards stricter laws after hearing how all the gun owners feel. now i'm scared of them and i'm not even doing anything wrong.
should i buy a vest????????

wow, i'm sorry if my desire to be able to defend myself and my family, should the need arise, threatens you... in a REAL country the citizens are to be counted on to defend one another in times of crisis or if the government fails in it's constitutional duty to protect against invasion. the cowboy cop rhetoric does not represent us and you know it.

my town has a local police and sheriffs department. i'm confused. who is coming to get me? i was raised around guns. i like guns. wanna know why? we hunted. not protected. hunted. fed the family goose at christmas. stuff like that. never did my dad tell me to use a gun against another individual. you got a problem with a bad guy? call the cops. now if we get invaded..... that's just silly. i'll club a bad guy and steal his gun.

ok. now, what if that car had my baby in it? what if my paycheck was in there and my family was on the verge of being evicted? what if medicine for my ailing dad was in there? etc, etc, etc?

there are plenty of scenarios where i might take someone out for interfering with my property IF that property involves or impacts the wellbeing of others.

then you take your duty as a citizen much more lightly than i do. you're the "sporting type" gun owner. i see it as a much more complicated right.

i watched fat pigs hide behind trees while a skinny twirp of a mentally mangled college boy slaughtered more than 30 people. the sheriff is not my protector.

oh well, shit happens. what if you weren't standing there when it happened? then it happens anyway.
protector of your world.
self righteous justice.
US judicial system right out the window.
when i have a problem i will call 911. i am not trained properly in killing people. i leave it to the experts.

my sheriff is an elected official. who's fault is that. better screening and training of the police force would be better than citizens gunning each other down. don't you think?
