I served with A co, 2/504th Parachute Infantry Regiment in Afghanistan in 2002, and in Iraq in 2003-2004. Yes I do also very Much celebrate a hero (armed only with a small knife) who gave his life trying to fend off a nazi coward with a gun trying to kill members of his temple for no reason. I'm not surprised to hear of a Sikh with the heart of a lion.

We need to amend all the gun laws to recognize and uphold and not infringe upon or contradict the second amendment.
Everyone should be able to get any guns and weapons they want legally.

Duke doesn't know the law, he just guesses.

The actual law only bars one from OWNING a firearm if you have been CONVICTED of a drug possession charge or have been arrested multiple times for drugs in the last 5 years.

The law does not bar people who smoke MJ from owning firearms.

No, the 2nd amendment does not confer the right to own weapons. NONE of the amendments confer rights on US Citizens, whomever told you that was wrong. The second Amendment prohibits government from dicking around with citizens rights to own firearms.

The constitution does not convey rights to you, you had those rights given to you by the mere fact that you are human.

A little proof of the total hypocrisy of the left and especially the liberals and progressives on this forum.
I'd like to hear the lefties on this forum who are so hell bent with changing the existing gun laws anytime a shooting death makes national headlines. Where is your outrage for the drug overdose deaths which are even higher.
The hypocrisy is that they want to restrict lawful gun owners rights by ridding the US of it's millions of guns, then turn around and advocate the legalization of drugs.

I'm mostly a liberal/progressive, but I fully support the 2nd amendment. More guns, I think the only restriction that makes sense is gun education. It should be in Jr High school, like woodshop. Your kids should have some haggard war vet teaching them how to shoot and yelling at them at a range like a drill sergeant.

This is probably the most common sense approach to this issue yet.
Why in the world we would trust a 21 year old kid with zero training the privilege of caring a loaded gun in public but require him to pass a driving test before getting behind the wheel of a car is beyond me!

back in the day, every kid needed to know how to use a gun so teaching was not needed. i think it is a valid argument that everyone needs to know how to operate and care for a firearm.

The driving test should be harder too, and classes should be required, not only for operation of the vehicle, but traffic etiquette as well. I'm sick of idiots driving side by side and not allowing faster traffic to pass in the left lane. You should get a ticket if someone has to pass you in the right lane too. I'm not kidding, it wastes time and it wastes gasoline when ass holes occupy the road. Since so many people will likely lose licenses over it, public transportation would need some love.

As for guns, there is one compromise I would make. I would make it more difficult to obtain concealed carry licenses. Make it for Law enforcement and military only while enacting some sort of measure to cause more people to brandish firearms openly. I'd like to see movie theaters full of patrons with guns on their hips. It should even be stylish. In fact, certain types of weapon purchases should even be tax-deductible. Clearly the police can't protect us from Neo-Nazis and brain chemistry prodigies dressed as the Joker.

I know you have been proved wrong on this. But you are right in one aspect. Growing a few plants while in the possession of a firearm is a felony in almost all states. For me, what could be a $200.00 fine now turns into felony and at least a year and prison.

this is a nice bit of rhetoric.... but Cars have primary purpose other than killing. One can claim that firearms are technicaly tools that put a high speed projectile in a desired location, but fire arms for the most part are designed to kill things. You are not living in a "truely free society and your last statement makes no sense in the modern world. this government is not afraid of your guns.
