Really, really nice garden(s) @Gwhiliker !

Two questions if you don't mind (I'm probably late to the party and you've explained this, but I couldn't find it).

1. Do you start off-center and/or at an angle for LST?

2. Is your branch removal pre-planned, or more of a judgement call at the time?

Thanks! :bigjoint:

I generally wait till the plants 12-18 inches straight up from the middle (clone acceptance provided) and then tie down any extreme branch and remove most covering fan leaves

well I have my sister her boyfriend and my fathers help with all this. and none of us really know what we are doing as I started this mess in marchish
But my current (will be changed I'm sure) way of going around things is wait until the plants are as mentioned before and start last, then I go about cleaning up once more a few days before they enter the room, then about week 2 i clean up the bottoms and most of the covering fans and leave as many smaller leaves and nodes i see getting adequate light as possible.
Sorry if that doesn't answer your questions. I've been low key following some of your stuff and I really feel honored you gave me a mention :bigjoint:

WOW - Thanks! :bigjoint:
I'm a total noob. 1 cabinet grow & 1 tent grow under my belt. I have worked in the industry before, and I was a mobile truck video engineer for a long time so it's just been a matter of following instructions and putting the puzzle pieces together.
This run I want to follow instructions again, and apply what I've learned - a bit more Flower Girl, and I'm using a SCROG.
I try to change as few variables as I can so that I can pinpoint what went right/wrong.

Feel free to post on my journals - I still feel very seat-o-my-pants at this so far. My plants are all babies right now, so nothing exciting happening yet other than over-watering :wall: at least I used more perlite so it drains off faster...

That absolutely answers my question
I'm running a second grow space with my bagseeds. That's where I'm planning to LST & flip EARLY to see if I can reap earlier. That way I'm less tempted to deviate from what I know with the OG Kush.

i notices ur running blurple and fabric pots, don't be afraid to get some air at the root bases and let the temps get to 80-85 will help on the dry out:bigjoint:led needs a higher temp for the lack of infrared lighting

I got an sf2000 on it's way to me so I can get these phlizon's out of my 2x4. When I swap it out I will take fresh pics so you can see.
I will put cut leaves on one side, and untouched leaves on the other. :weed: :eyesmoke:

Air at the roots - as in lifting the pots from the floor?
LOL --- When we first moved into this place, there was still a ton of stuff from the old tenants.
Some of it we still have, and the stoner-engineer in me finds uses for them --- like the pack of curlers I re-discovered next to my extension cord during my last grow. They elevate the plants in a color coded sizes from the base of their saucers. :eyesmoke: I did it to prevent root rot (not sure if that's even correct) - it made a noticeable difference in ease of watering and the plants just seemed to like it. Think it would look weird for a very short haired man to pick up a few packs of curlers at the beauty supply?

80-85f is no problem - I actually run my intake from the window to cool it down a bit - usually high 70's low 80's. Shold be eaiser to regulate as "winter" sets in. (We have no winter here)

The Burple - Viparspectra VA-1200 dimmable.
Powered on the bloom dimmer: ( 4) 730nm diodes , Far Red 620-630nm & Red 640-660nm.
Bloom side also has 3000k & 3,500K white diodes.

Veg Side has 440-470nm & 6500 & 7500K diodes. --- interesting that they feel there's less need to spread the blue spectrum that much
Giving a range like that on the doesn't speak too well for the CRI - lol

I don't think it's a great light, but I do think it's among the better burples. And I have admit that my largest, densest, frostiest buds were under this light (in a mess of blurples & 1 bar)! Hopefully I won't be on a Covid budget much longer...

I like a couple of their PAR series too - 12 bands and more spectral control on a few models.
But covering them in fans like that makes me wonder how hard they drive those boards - I used to build mobile video trucks and I know why I would opt for that many fans. That will definitely impact fixture lifespan.

Wow - guess the bubble hash is stonier than I thought - that's a LONG post! :joint::P

edit --- the light appears much more "blurple" on camera than in person. Re: 730nm is on the fringe of a lot of camera sensors - it imparts a stronger blurple effect.

i mean just blowing some air on the pots and plants would help them dry out a bit faster, as for the blurple it does sound like the flower side has the right series of lights! i have a couple mary hyrdos that I was growing under for a while I really like them for vegetative growth and I did notice tight nodes so I'm sure you are getting some nice frosty nugs! i hope the budget gets a bit bigger and maybe u can take a look at the spyders or maybe some alibaba boards/bars

Airflow & getting them out of the runoff water was the reason I put the hair-curlers under the pots - gets me between 1/2" and 1" of clearance!
They'll show up in my journal at the transplant. I'll upgrade them at some point, but for now they work - and they're funny. :bigjoint:

I've been trolling digikey & penciling some designs on paper.
Thinking of a cob / strip mix - penetration & fairly even spread. :bigjoint:

Once that's built, the Vipar will probably move into a veg tent - Babies seem to like it with Veg dimmer at 100% and Bloom around 25%

Reality is that even when the Covid budget changes, it changes into catch up budget.
At least my Wife's career is essential - otherwise we'd be hosed!

I like that you are going DIY I'm interested to see what you build! Once I get more time I plan on building strips on my tables for side lighting and throwing some vertical 400w in places kind of like renfros, but I gotta go co2 before I can add any more light as I'm about 2x recommendations anyways and around that area you need co2 to make the extra lighting viable
