HALP! I need somebody!

But for real, does anyone know of a start to finish hydro explanation? I mean, I have already figured out how to build the set up, what rocks to use and the seeds and all that. My main questions would be along the lines of, what should I do as far as lighting? I am fairly set on cfl's, though as far as mechanics of and specifics I am not quite so sure, such as wattage, connections(...?), and other such things. As well as what do I do as far as nutrients and such? This would be my first ever hydro grow, I will be working with auto flowering, feminized seeds, all done in a fairly large closet? Also smell control, going from a place where it doesnt matter if it stinks to high heaven....(hehehe) to a place where that could potentially cause some issues. I'm in the top floor of a duplex. Any help would be so very much appreciated.

Cfls can grow good bud. If you are growing more than one plant, managing multiple light sources around one plant is a PITA. PITA x 10 = clusterfuck of wiring and bulbs. I had a 400w hps in a 2x3 closet with fan and carbon filter and no heat issues. A single light source is so much easier. I would never grow in an area i didnt have the rights to a warrent for entry, meaning i would never grow in another persons house because the other person has the say so if the house can be searched. Good luck.

watch some jorge cervantes videos on youtube, that should help you with the lights and vents and stuff

6 years ago I woulda recomended cfls, now i wont do that, If your gonna go small either get a little cheap150-250hps setup or make diy led cobs with a coupe of cxb3590s or vero29s, cfls come with too many health issues and other problems such as trying to keep them within an inch or two of leaves for months, For nutes in hydro the lucas formula is tried and true. Also look into benificial teas such as great white. For odor control....thats a deal breaker mate if you are in someone elses building you cant skimp on this in the slightest (bad idea in general to be in someone elses building with this hobby) you are gonna need massive filtration cause you gotta get all of it. as big of filter and inline fan combo as you can make yourself pay for. beware that THIS is the part that WILL get you busted

What do you think about t5's? I have also been looking at them, because a hps set up would lead to issues with heat in a small space.

T5's have srrved faithfully for years and can still do very well in a SCROG setting where you have a nice even canopy. Do that and then look into what you can for supplemental.

But any "fairly large closet" can easily handle a 250w hps

Ive got a 250W HPS running in my closet (which isn't big) and its fine:bigjoint:

Had really good results with my LED light system, but I also spent top dollar for it. Have two 3+ foot, bushy autos with a relatively small light. I know the old ways are still preferred, but the results spoke for themselves with me. Less heat, less energy cost.

could you possibly send a link to some led light set ups that you recommend? I have had some interest in LED lights myself, just so many more questions and unknowns when starting a whole new growing style already.

Would you recommend cfls for supplemental light? or more t5's? Also, thinking about possibly throwing my whole set up into a grow tent for a more isolated grow. Any opinions on that vs just putting mylar on the walls?

My only recommendation is led for supplemental, and you dont want links to expensive prebuilt junk running individual diodes, you want the led section here on rollitup in the indoor growing set. Look for any topic that says something about Cobs or learning how to do stuff. For less than i spent on cfls when i started you can make yourself a VERY high quality unit.

I have bought two tents through my years growing, they have been ripped apart and line my walls and such now, flat white paint reflects plenty, mylar does a good job, panda films good too
