Hanging filter- are these bungees safe?

So i had my fan originally ontop of the tent but was hoping to be able to keep the temps lower so i can raise the wattage and moved the fan inside closer to the light, and also was needing to install the filter being 2 weeks in flower and was frustrated earlier at how i was going to hang the system so i bought bungee cords and was wanting opinions on safety n smell proofing, i saw pinholes in the duct running from the fan to the light with it having a negative air pressure should i move the fan around to blow over the light? I figured blowing with higher pressure would be like a half a degree warmer but with it blowing the pinholes would leak back into the tent, would a pinhole make the difference between sober grandmas house or skunk farts?

Great I just tried to put the ducting on the filter and they're both exactly 6 inches so i can't fit it over it like the light and fan could, i was wondering earlier if i had needed to get a flange of some sort ive been sealing everything with ductape only

Those bungees dont look too safe. If the bungees are tight theyre ok but yours look pretty loose. Also insulated ducting wont help anything. Put some of that duct tape over your pinhole. And that filter can be anywhere, even vertical rather than horizontal. The bigger worry is will those flimsy tent bars hold it all up there or will they break under the weight. Good luck anyway.

The bars are solid I really had to pop them in, they would bend but they could probably stand me doing a chinup at 160lbs, and the bungees look loose but they are under tension the bungees went perpendicular to the fan and spun em 2ce or so then cross tied the 2 bungees where it looks loosish in the knott but the bungees were holding the fan weight when they were on the ducting an few inches from the fan, I think the fan is very unlikely to fall im more concerned with the filter balancing on the 3 bungees 2 wasn't enough without it tottering ill need to get more to hang the fan next to the light in the veg tent rather than ontop, so much more efficient with the heat closer to the fan I was able to turn the watts all the way up to 600 and its sitting at a pretty 72 degrees, however my windows in the house were open for a few hours to get the house to be 60 degrees, yet my room itself is probably 70-75 degrees but it helps leech the heat and it was 70 degrees with it at 300 watts with the fan ontop of the tent, it probably would be running at ~77 degrees with the house at regular room temp windows closed, if I hadn't moved the fan probably around 83degrees I think it made a big difference we'll see by tomorrow

You could stand the filter straight up on the floor
I was thinking about that but i wanted to have any hotter air surrounding the light to get sucked up and I'd imagine the smell particles would be float upward and id also have an extra sqft hanging it rather than on the floor but having it on the floor would make it easier, anybody know if a flange is needed? The 6" ducting can't fit the 6" filter they're the same exact size, go figure. Also if im concerned about any smoke smell coming back into the house as i blow it out the window, would the fan scrubbing inside the tent of the same room 'detoxify' any smell accumulated that sorta killed the fresh pine wood construction smell of this 3 month brand new house? The landlord will need to use it as an office in June and i want to move a pound or two through here without him knowing about it afterwards, what sort of evidence stays long after the op is packed up?

What is the weight limit on the bungie cords?

Figure out how heavy your filter is and make sure your support is rated for much more than that.

I wouldn't even if you have room. I did this, and all it takes is a bud to brush up against it, and it picks up white fibers from the filter sock. First noticed this on getting some bud tested and found white fibers on it.

Woah! Thanks for letting me know I'll definitely avoid that

I hang my filter/fan with bungee's. Mine are smaller, so the filter hangs down about 2" below the bars. The filter is suspended barely below the top. No vibrations, works perfect, the best way to hang a filter/fan in a tent imo. If your bungee's are long, you can wrap them around the poles to get it higher. Btw, if you do hang your filter/fan this way, I suggest running a couple screws through to attach the fan to the filter, then seal it up. If they separate and fall, it can be a mess.

I have shorter bungee cords but they were going to be a bitch to get into place without stretching em out, how is that bungee under the fan holding it up? Is it screwed onto the fan or some kind of strap at the bottom their? Also would I need a flange I don't think mine both being 6inches would fit together without some sort of flange thing. and im still trying to figure out how the cross bars work so 2 parrelell ones hold the filter and one perpendicular would hold the fan? I think my tent has 4 cross bars, also if ive been smoking in my room with the tent will the scrubber save my ass when family comes into town this Saturday? otherwise I might need to just buy some ona to save the op

if you pull air from the other side of the light your exhaust will be smoother and one curve rather than a S,meaning more efficient air flow
You're totally right, that would make it a lottt more efficient being direct, I was too stoned thinking that blowing over the fan with positive air pressure wouldn't cool it as well as a lower air pressure would but that's honestly negligible considering that annoying s shape, you sold me over switching to >filter>fan>light also much safer with any duct leaks going back into the tent to get refiltered, I'll switch it over tomorrow once I figure out my frustrating confusion over flanges/ sealing + tying the fan and filter

Ok, trust me on this one. You need to run your filter/fan like I have mine. This is the BEST way for a tent. Your fan WILL fit inside your filter. It will go in about 1". I've tried just the flange, but it's just not secure enough. It can come undone. Set your filter on the ground upright, place your fan into it (so that the air flow sucks from the filter through the fan) Drill 3 or 4 small pilot holes through the filter/fan, then run screws through them, then tape up that section to seal up any small air leaks. This will make your filter/fan 1 solid unit that will not come undone. Go to the store and get a multi pack of bungee's and find the one that fits the best. The bungee under the fan is just from one side to the other, you dont' need that flange thing, you can use the electrical box to help hold it in place. It's easy. Get inventive with the poles in the tent and make it work. In a tent, it goes filter>fan>lights>exhaust. You should have your exhaust going out a window, otherwise it can get hot in the actual room. Open the flaps at the bottom and leave the fan on 24/7. Negative pressure will suck in all the air from the room, into the tent, through the filter, through the lights and out the window. Yes it should scrub well if it's blowing out of the house. It's not instantaneous, it takes a little bit.

Thanks for the advice blackforest! By the way, someone on the forums had told me not to put the filter on the ground as they said their buds would accidently pickup some of the prefilter fibers. I'm going to have to look up how to drill pilot holes, I think having a backup like that is nice, it'd be a lot safer to have them bolted but im no artisian. How long would you think it would be deodorized enough to feel as if a cop couldn't tell that I had smoked cause it's week 2-3 and my familys getting here Saturday :O I'm just curious if I should buy ona+ smoke buddies or if just the filter + odor eliminating sprays will suffice

I only meant to put it on the ground to install the fan. A pilot hole is just a small hole you drill before you try to run a screw through it because it's metal. Once they are secured, hang them back up in the tent like you already have it. Also, it will clear the room pretty quick, but yes, you do want to help mask the odor as well with ona or some other type of air deodorizer. I use the plugins to help out.
