Hanging upside down to dry

Whats the actual purpose behind hanging upside down? I mean i’ve always done it, everyone does it, i’m not mad about it or anything lol. But i got high and started thinkin about it When i was a kid way back i remember the old geezers teaching me thats how you do it “cuz it drains all the thc down to the buds” lol.I’m from tobacco farm country so maybe some of that drying technique was applied? Obviously that old science was flawed, but what is the reason? One thing I was thinking if you hung it right side up the the leaves would pull away from the buds as it dries maybe making it easier to trim?? Idk. Anyone have any insight or is it just one of those thats how we’ve always done it kind of thing.

It's simply for ergonomics: i.e. it's much easier to hang a branch from the stem end rather than the flower end.
