how could it possibly make a difference? does THC go away during the day?
This is what I'm asking... how will cutting it during the night or in darkness affect the THC%? Maybe we're not aware of something here, or Timmy the Toker was tokin when he said it...:bigjoint:

I read something, don't remember where it was but they recommended harvesting a hour or so before the lights come on. The theory was that the light breaks down thc and it was thought that it rebuilds over night. It made sense to me, I've heard plenty of times that light breaks down thc, whether or not it rebuilds over night is up for debate. I'm going to harvest just before the light comes on myself, a extra bit of potency is worth it if it's true.

Hmm... this is one of those things in life where you'll never convince yourself for sure unless you try it. When my harvest is done I'll harvest part in the dark and part in the light and let ya know if the potency difference is noticeable.

There's been one more week and i didn't choped that baby yet. I still can't see amber trichs, only milky (70-80%) and clear(20-30%). Most of the pistils are red, so, by applying the "over 90% red pistils" rule, the plant should be ready for harvest, but the trichs are saying something else. What do you think?

dude some of the pistels may never turn! cut her dude 12 weeks is more than enough for WW you asre a trooper though! a man of patience ! good job, i cut my shit way early, still got great smoke, but i admire a beginner that can wait. i say with most confidence that cutting her now is totally ok. you will get great bud and a great high.

Thanks man for your consideration. I know it's been such a long time, i barely can wait to smoke her. The problem is that my trichs aren't amber yet (i've found only 2-3 amber trichs and i've inspected many buds so most of them don't have any amber trichs yet). So that's why i'm confused. I'm looking for a head high and i'm assuming that 30 - 70 (amber - milky) is the proper ratio. What do you suggest. You can see i don't have amber trichs in my macro photos. Thanks again m8!

Well, the most professional way of handling this is by going by the trich color. If a strain is is sativa dominant, you won't usually end up with more than 30-40% red trichs. Also, at sativa dominant plants, the change from milky to red happens very late, so give it a bit more time...

either or mate its ultimately up to you bro. i cut my bush down with very few amber trichs and i get a tremendous soaring hear high that lasts for 2 hours

listen to the doctor though he has a pretty decent grip on reality.
Thanks man. I guess i will still wait for a few days, what do you say Doc, how many days do you think i should wait? :weed:

ps: i'm asking that because i want to give her 24~36 hours of dark before chop and i have to schedule this very good.

Oh, well you can certainly expect alot of change at the trichomes with a 24h darkness... I'd say another 3-4 days + 1 day darkness and you're all set.:weed:

darkness, this does nothing to increase potency. the 12 weeks prior are really what matter. how would taking away the energy source be good for a plant? and dont say it stresses the plant into some amazing resin producing trance. if you are going to do this, you should stick a rusty nail in the stalk, boil the roots and yell at the plant a few times to make it better (lol, dont do any of that, it was a joke)...just care for it as you would and cut it when it is ready. good luck

remember, there is nothing you can do in one day that will change things. you did well you were patient, that is what matters. late

Hello. Thanks for your opinion. Well, i'm not expecting double sized buds from 1 day of darkness, but the plant will sense the difference and will use all the energy collected during light hours to produce more bud, maybe it's a speed up process, maybe it isn't, it's only my first grow. Thanks again.

this method is assumed and is not fact, it may be a waste of time, what i do know is it will not have a hugely negative effect. try it if ya want, but there is no science behind it bro. good grow.

that's done.
harvest it.
Thanks man, :) i will leave her another day and then i'll chop her. What about giving her 24 hours of darkness before chop? I'm interested in your opinion also :). And i don't get something, why doesn't have amber trichs? This is why i'm hesitating ... maybe someone can explaine me.

Cheers!
