Harvesting my NYPD

Ok, couple questions.my first succesful grow. Chopping my NYPD tonight and gonna hang clothesline style. about how long do they dry for? also they're are leaves growing from centers of top buds, do i cut them off flush with the bud or do i try to get inside and clip at stem?? after drying can i smoke em or is there another process after??? will check back on and off all day, i'm not ignoreing your answers, i just have work to do.....Thanks

i like to hang for 3 days, then put buds into paper bags for 2 days, and then into jars. maybe the occasional burp

all done in a room at about 50% humidity, ~ room temperature

and in a dark, dark basement with the windows covered up to make double sure that's so

light is the enemy here

the key is to have your buds curing in jars at about 55% humidity

plant's need to hang in dark cool place with air movement to stop mold! for about 7-14 day's when stalk will snap easily they are "dry" you can smoke now or place in jar's with tight lid's for a day at a time to pull moisture out of it ..open jar and vent three hour's a day..see harvesting on this sight for better explanation....smoke's smoother when cured!! jack only trim leave's that stick out do not disturb the bud's!! you will knock all the tricome's containing thc off with rough handeling!!
