harvesting pollen

when your male is in full on flower get a small container and a plastic baggie... trim of all the lower sacks/branches leaving fan leaves, take the cola o' sacks, still on the plant and bend it over so you can put it across the top of the container, now put the plastic bag over it, but not too tight, you want moisture to be able to escape... then just put under a cfl and bam... there ya go.

i keep pollen in a dark dry cool place for up to a couple months, anything more i'd freeze, but remember when you pull it out of the freezer it's best to use right away and most times that's the only shot you got with it.... it will go bad soon after de-freezing.

Ok. I get it. And what about the genetic material this pollen carries ? Can you tell smth about hermie pollen? Does it carry hermie genes only or maybe random sex? Many growers say kill hermies or hermie seeds are worthless. What about hermie pollen then?Thanx:)

If the seeds were self pollinated (ie: a hermie) then i believe that only a hermie will result... i could be wrong, dont hate me if i am :peace::joint::mrgreen:

they will be feminized.... usualy have about 10%-15% hermie rates on fem seeds.

hermie pollen is what is used to make feminized seeds because it does not naturally contain the male chromosome... breeders will usualy used hermie pollen on another female of the same strain to make stable fems, and on a female of another strain to make f1 fems.

So they turn a plant A-sexual to produce feminized seeds? I though females were stressed to produce male flower, they then took that pollen and pollinated a different female, I don't think they pollinate the same plant they forced male to produce feminized seeds.... just my take on it, i haven't read up on it in a while so i could be getting my lines crossed.....

i had a hermie white widow outside last year and let it go... it was put ouy in july and was only about a foot and a half tall... so far i have used 16 of the seeds from it and have had two hermies and 14 females..... this is what i based my 10-15% on.

Back in the day I got a whole bunch of seeds from this guy who was a self proclaimed 'genetic' guy. all the plants grew GREAT. They ALL went female. I was absolutely amazed!!!

Then I think it was somewhere between week 2 and 4 of flower, they all went hermie. every plant in the room. damn.:wall:

it sucked.
