Has Atheism become its own Religion?

We completely agree on that point, however we like to continue the journey and think our stuff gets distributed throughout everything everywhern.

I enjoy contemplating the proportion of my being composed of material once incorporated into previous entities capable of attraction throughout the history of life on our planet.

I forgot the chance each and every living thing on Earth has at least one of the oxygen molecules Lee once breathed incorporated into its body.

Some very small, yet positive, number.

In Surfer magazine they had an article asking if surfing was a religion. they asked priests, people, even a rabbi. they all answered no as you would expect, but the surprising thing is that they all agreed that surfing is only missing one thing to be a religion which is; worshiping a being or having a god. Thereʻs a practice, surfing, we have a place of worship, ocean. Just no higher being. Atheists have no ruler and donʻt believe in a god. They could not worship anybody or anything in any matter because it would then turn it into a religion. so no, it canʻt be a religion. And for the people that are religious i donʻt hate you guys just donʻt try to push what you were taught and forced to listen to as a child on me. My people, Hawaiians, are not from Europe therefor my ancestors were not christian/catholic and neither am I.....

"They could not worship anybody or anything in any matter"

Do Atheists vaporize when they practice political worship in any matter to their political gods?

Nice thread.
Atheism is the new Christianity.

disagree with them and you will be chastised.

However unlikely God is, there is no way to prove there isn't one.
Only the dead know for sure.
Chastised for being irrational is better than being murdered for not believing in Zombie Jesus and the Skygod.

The only TRUE answer is agnosticism, Atheists are just as naive as Christians, Catholics, etc. because no Atheists or anyone else can provide proof that their beliefs are the undeniable truth.

Just sayin'
So you're an agnostic about unicorns, leprechauns, Shrek, Transformers, Thundercats, Power Puff Girls, cereal, etc.

Your stance is weak.

When the flying spaghetti monster was invented you instantly became an agnostic to that as well? You can't prove or disprove it. You don't know that it wasn't divine inspiration by his noodliness.

I can tell you that I have a 747 in my pocket, but that if you look it will become invisible and have no mass. Is the correct and "true" stance for that agnosticism as well?

"So not really detectable"

Energies, as you know my scientist friend, are most certainly detectable.

Which energies do you feel are undetectable?

The fictional ones.

Do you watch Stargate: Atlantis, and then after a Wraith sucks the life out of someone sit back, sigh, and say "We believe that was some good science."?

Maybe you think that always speaking in extremely vague terms about everything, and using "We" like you're an intoxicated two-headed alien is somehow charming and interesting, but it's not, really.

It's sad that it took someone making you angry to actually get you to say something that wasn't just a bunch of pretentious fluff.

If you really did get your degree in something other than bellybutton-contemplating-philosophy you sure as heck didn't do it by talking like that to your instructors. So which part is the liar? The academic graduate or the nonsensical hippy?

I'll probably wait a little while before putting you on ignore, since I'm curious to see what the response will be. But I don't expect the endless stream of posts that say nothing to stop any time soon.

"The fictional ones."

Then let's not discuss those.

Do you and I Mr. Morgentaler agree to limit Our discussions relating to energies specifically to non-fictional energies, and keep things as simple and concise as possible?

No.

Hippy's don't exist.

Do you believe I am speaking to my college professors of long ago for what purposes exactly?

What parts of me do you know for certain Mr. Morgentaler?

Atheism is not only not a religion its not a valid word. Unless a person has toured every inch of the Universe and failed to find God or a reasonable facimile, they cannot rightfully make the claim "God does not exist", so since there hasn't been anybody to take the needed exploration, the farthest a person can fall into unbelief is a condition called "agnosticism" which simply means a person does not know what they believe and are too lazy to find out. Anybody who proclaims themselves to be an atheist either belongs in a mental institution or they are mad at God about something. Usually the latter which invariably involves the untimely death of a loved one. Or sometimes child abuse inflicted upon them by a Father Figure.

So you are agnostic about the Thundercats?

You worship an invisible man, who "answers prayers" with the same frequency as random chance would influence events, spent a couple of thousand years telling people to murder and rape and be vicious assholes to each other and then one day just decided out of the blue to create a son here on earth that so that people could murder him which would allow his father to forgive them in the future.

And you want people that DON'T believe that put in a mental institution?

Thundercats, Ho!

Atheism is the belief there is no god
We dont need to fall back on a book to be a good person.
We dont make exuses and ask for forgiveness when we have screwed up
NO, atheism is not its own religon. We are people who accept our surroundings and dont think theres some supreme being that looks over us.

Religon is for the weak minded. Atheism is for the open minded...

"And sometimes, ignoring just leads to bliss."

I do believe you've said the very thing about theists.
If you ever backed up anything you said with anything other than rambling, then ignoring it would be ignoring an opportunity to learn something.

But most of your posts are "We believe" followed by some random statements. You don't even bother to say WHY you believe such a statement.

Do you really think questions like "How many minds must X a Y before it is reality?" are anything more than pseudo-intellectual masturbation?

If you think you're just going to throw that out because you saw a show on probability theory, the reference probability theory. Point people to something to learn from it. Even if it's just a clip or something you learned somewhere.

But these interjections usually seem as relevant as someone interrupting to say "We believe Daphne and Scooby Doo might have been better friends if she wore more scarves."

As it is your posts just seem to be speedbumps in the middle of the threads, with all the clarity of marshmallows.

The only reason athiests are teaching or "preaching" is because christians wont stop. They are hadcore never going to stop and think outside their own little fairytell.

Honestly the only reason i think people believe in a higher power is because their scared. They cant cope with the fact that their a distructive organism, and wen they die theyll end up in the ground were the living organism (earth) created them over time. Why is it so hard to belive that we came from monkeys?? LOOK AT URSELF. We basically have the same structure. The only reason we dont still throw shit everywhere or are covered in hair is because of TIME.

anyways they make themselves and the community of christians (also other religions) feel like their important. Oh and not to mention the fact we look and act like a cancer like being. I was watching the news today and they put up this animated image of the flight paths of plans and how many their were. It was amazing and discusting at the same time. Humans spread very fast (cancer) and if u look over any city in america, this is looking with an open mind, ull see were not that different from micro organisms. Just food for thought. :D
