Have i wasted my money?

Im remaking this post with more sense hopefuly,

Ive ALWAYS vegged and flowered upder a 400w HPS for the past couple of years but lately i had some money spare and decided i fancied a change so i went out and got:

Maxibright T5 2 bulb for a germination box and a 250w HID for my vegging

Which will of course go into my 400w HPS for flowering

Will i see better results? or have i wasted my money? and will this increase my yields or actually decrease them?

Any advice or opinions are welcome

250 sounds a little weak to me... How many plants?

Sounds like if you have more grow areas than that will cut down on a lot of time.
I think that for vegging, you could easily go with led's or cfls or even use more t5's to cut down on energy usage.
The more plants you can cycle through your grow, the more you will yield and the more you can make.
So i would say you made a good step.

Well the plan was plant 1 every 2 weeks, Im not into massive yields but it would be nice i buy single seeds so i can taste all the flavors and rate which ones help my medical problem. I live in the UK and can barely leave the house so i am a bit paranoid about being caught hence why i introduced a vegging room rather than the 1 400wt veg to flower room. I just read somewhere that HID gives off a good spectrum for vegging so i thought id try it myself. I did average about 3-5oz per plant before but will the 250watt massively reduce my vegging power or is it a slight reduction?

Hey there bro,

Ya you're obviously doing it as a hobby and to self supply, so I think, honestly you hit the jackpot. 250 is great for young clones and to maintain a mother. Consider that when you use lower wattage, you're not pushing the plant too hard, so it's easier imo to have that lower wattage in your veg chamber...hell, sounds like you're using a conversion lamp anyway, if you need to veg it under the 400 for a week or two to bush it out, nothing wrong with that.
