In Ccodaine's defense (and I cant believe i am coming to his defense) you could have worded things a lot better. You phrase it like its an attack on American citizens personally. There are several of us that believe the same thing you do and are fighting to make a positive change. We don't like to be called suckers or brain-washed. And yes, Sicko is just one documentary, and Michael Moore is a propogandist. There is two sides to every story. You should do a bit more homework before you start throwing around insults. What could have been an intelligent observation sounds like nothing more than open critisism of the American people.

One thing you can be sure of ... if Michael Moore had a heart attack from eating all the garbage and slop that pig eats, he surely wouldn't go to Cuba or any other country that has a government monopolized medical system. He's a multi-millionaire ... millions that he's made off of the dupes who believe the anti-American propaganda bullshit he spews out on the movie screens across the world. He would use the best doctors in the finest medical facilities in the U.S. for his bypass surgery. And guess what ... he'd get the surgery the very same day he had the heart attack.
And to answer one question asked here: NO, children are NOT dying in this country because of the lack of insurance or because they're poor. We have a FEDERAL law that prohibits hospital emergency rooms from turning down ANYONE who cannot pay. Most counties have county hospitals where folks who lack funds can go to get treatment. Many doctors donate their time and expertise FREE to these patients. And on that subject, illegal aliens are overburdening our hospitals and taking care away from citizens who are here legally.
For you dupes who think America is a non-compassionate country, or that Americans in general are not a charitable people, ask yourselves where you heard that. Then ask yourselves; does that person or source of information have an agenda? There are people and organizations who HATE capitalism and will do anything to destroy it ... including lying to you. That's how it works in my country.
I realise my comments may have all too easily been misconstrued, but I was speaking figuratively. Obviously the majority of US citizens believe it is fine to let people die because they can't afford health care... obviously, if the majority of US citizens actually believe this is ok, then I am going to assume that the majority have been brainwashed.
I agree, my words could, if one so chose, be misinterpreted... however i believe most on these boeards are intelligent enough to realise exactly what I meant without my having to go into detail. However, there is always one...

What you're really asking is, "is there a third way?" You're looking for a way between socialism and capitalism. Its never worked before because socialism leads society down the Road to Serfdom. The best way, the most moral way, the way to establish and maintain the most freedom and liberty, is through capitalism and individual charity.

I tried to find a chart showing where we rank in the world, but could not. According to "Sicko" we are ranked like 83rd or something just above Lithuania. Is this true, and if so who calculates this? Surely there is something that can be done......
