Healthy Roots?

So i relocated my plants to another house all together. As i was moving them the other day I noticed the roots were looking on the brown side. Do these roots look okay? Shouldn't they be more white?

Solution is a pinkish color from the nutes. I'm using jungle juice micro and bloom in lucas formula. I am also using calmag and dutch master gold zone.

I was thinking the same thing Snafuu. My friend just put a frozen water bottle in there and it melted pretty quick. The temp of the reservoir is 79F. Way too high, right? Does anyone know of a cheap, but good fix for this?

Start rotating out frozen 2 liter bottles...There really aren't a lot of cheap options to cool water, besides frozen water bottles.

You want your rez closer to 68

Okay. Will this correct itself once i get the temp down or will it be discolored for ever? How are the chillers specifically made for DWC? Any you all know of that are good?

Chillers work awesome. You would most likely want to run a seperate rez of fresh water to chill with the chiller, and then circulate that with a pump through a stainless steel wort chiller running through your nute rez. What is the total volume of water you;re working with??

I have heard of people buying an old culligan (water purifier) and using the water cooler available inside the unit. To my understanding it takes a little customizing but I have heard it works and you can usually get them for a $100. cheap easy fix. other than that a water chiller from hydro store.

Last week the reservoir got pretty low. I didn't think she would drink that much and when i checked on her it was pretty low. Sorry for not mentioning this earlier i just remembered. Do you think this had anything to do with the discoloration?

Try Root Assist from skunk labs horticulture, ive used their foliar products with great success and this product looks really good from what ive read on info page. It's a "1 step brew process", and from my experience with microbe tea's you dont need to control the water temp and root development is greatly enhanced.. When im done with the current microbe product im using im gunna get the Root Assist.

I highly suggest looking into that product because chiller's are not only super expensive, but no necessary.. You can run 76-80 temps all day with powerful microbe maintenance. You wont even need to clean the system ever just dump and refill if need be. There are many ways to brew but Root Assist is likely the most powerful for simplicity.

Okay I'm def going to look into root assist. In the meantime i turned my DWC into a RDWC by adding a bucket and connecting it to one plant bucket with hose and barbed connectors. It seems to pump the water out but doesn't return the water very well. I raised the plant bucket and placed the outtake on the water pump directly in front of the intake on the reservoir bucket in order for it to flow right. I am going to use frozen gallon jugs of water to keep the water cool in the reservoir and pump that to the plant bucket. I figure i can replace the frozen gallon jugs as they melt. I have some more in the freezer and will replace them as needed. Replacing water is going to be difficult im afraid when the time comes. Replacing nutes is already starting to suck because i have to wait for the water to circulate to get the correct ppm's. I am going to keep this in place for one week and decide if i'm going to keep it or not. Thanks

Yea ive seem many people do that, but rdwc never had any advantages for me since i use drain valves on each bucket, and microbes to avoid any rot issues. I been doing dwc for so long, nothing compares to microbes as maintenance, i actually wouldn't even consider running DWC without it. Chilling water never did anything for me.. but more then anything it either just a pain in the ass or expensive to try and lower the water temp consistently to a point where roots dont really even flourish.
