heat issues after switching cfls

ok so the temp in my box went from around 80ish with my daylight 6500k cfls to around 90ish when i switched in more yellow (3000k or something) same wattage cfls. is this possible or am i going crazy?

That's deceptive. Daylight have a higher temperature, but less red. Below red in energy is infrared, which we register as heat. So redder bulbs will likely have more infrared too.
 
It could also have something to do with the base desgin of the lights themselves. I am sure not all CFLs are crated out of the exact same components, could just be cheaper stuff internally.

It's totally possible and it's just going to keep getting hotter the more you add. The only way to get the heat down with CFL's is to not use an enclosed box. It's just like an oven, and even with fans and holes for heat to escape it still won't do shit. My suggesting is rig up something that doesn't have to be completely enclosed (ie. grow box)..
 
Having this same problem myself actually. I just switched over to flower 6days ago and made a new Rubbermaid style box for the increase in height avaliable. Temps went from a steady 85F with 4 daylight CLF's and 2 80mm computer fans white paper small clamshelled pair box to a steady 92F mylar coated rubbermaid box clamshelled pair with a 4" ductfan a 4" deskfan inside for circulation, and the same 2 cpu fans inside, one on the bottom, and 1 on the top blowing into the duct fan.......Temps are hot and no possible way to cool it down that i know of now except a seperation layer.

IE plexiglass between lights and input output fans inside plexi area. Fans in lower area as well.
 
yeah i even added a stronger 6inch inline fan (200 cfm) to replace the weak lil computer fan when i switch lights.. this sucks it i cant seem to get it outta the 90s. will my babies be ok in the 90s?
 
No reason to ditch the PC fan then.. I'd put it above the lights blowing up away from the plants since you have it sitting there.
 
i don't know how you have those set up, but I have 6 x 42W CFL and 150W HPS in a 3 x 1.5 area with about 1' between the top of the canopy and the lights, and have it cooled to 85 during the day with only 4 80mm computer fans. make sure they're all sucking air *from* the box and lights.
