Soooo I'm in a room in a basement..I have a 4×4×6 Tent...With a 1000 watt setup(Sun System II 4 inch)..ballast is on the outside of the tent(not causing heat problems)..NO TEMPERED GLASS :-/ I have duct running from the window to the tent and a fan on THE INSIDE OF THE TENT pulling the air from outside into the tent...I have a cheap $15 8" clip on fan on the top left side of the tent blowing the air out into the room..Tent is roughly 15 ft from the window...Do I need tempered glass AND a good exhaust fan?..Do I need just a exhaust fan and fuck the glass?...Please keep in mind I don't want 2 spend $100+ on a exhaust fan..for sure don't wanna buy 2 $100+ fans..but if I have 2 I will :-(
PICTURES ATTACHED..PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR INPUT!! EXPERIENCED DIY'ERS!!

ok here is what i did.....on a3x3 and my 5x5.....i have 1 inline fan inside the tent.it pulls air thru the vented hood and blows it outside ( the fan is pulling out not pushing in air ) on the other side of ten i have a ducting piece * in this case that goes thru floor.NO FAN on it.....the vortex created by the fan pulling the inside air thru light, creates a suction thru the intake........i put a 8 inch duct comin ion to allow more air flo. * i am using a 600 watt light not a 1000....but still same idea.

You need to get an inline fan. Judging by your pictures your hood is a 6in hood. You need to take cold air outside the tent push it through the light and outside the tent. That will cool down your hood considerably. If you still have heat problems get a 2nd inline fan and pull the air from the top of the inside of the tent and out the window. This should rid fix your problem

It seems he has a cool tube without the glass, so this wouldn't really help.

You need a cool tube in a space like that with that much wattage, or a AC unit pumping cold air in and an exhaust at the top removing hot air.

Your right I thought he said he had tempered glass on it. Cooltubes are great. If he didn't wanna but a new hood he could pull air out of the tent thru the light and pump cold air through the bottom of the tent right? His thermometer said something like 80 something I couldn't see too well

It still is aircooled but it isn't as effective without the glass over the light. The cool air wipping past the bulb and back out causes the bulb to cool down in turn cooling down your tent. You can get a piece of glass cut to fit your hood from a local glass shop. Its only like $30. But you can find a good hood on Craigslist for like 100.
You said your in your basement right?? Why use the tent? If you ditch the tent and grow In your basement the heat problem is gone. Just cover your windows with panda polly

You can attach a lens, some inlet and outlet venting andf connect an inline fan tot eh hood and it will be vented. Just add tyhe glass, the inlet/outlet conne3ctors and you have e vented hood. peace
