so here is the situation im in..i have a very sativa dominant strain in about its 8th week of flowering and its a beast. its about 9-10 feet tall and right under the light. its bent as much as it can be and is still a good 8 feet. the buds up top are lookin a little tiny while the lower branches are fat. i was wondering if i could just take off the top by a foot or something like that and have the plant be ok still and if it is too late into flower?

smoke EM out

it's done all the time, especially if the top colas are more mature than the lower ones. just consider it a partial harvest rather than a height control. the high from that part of the plant will not be as stoney as your finished plant but it should still be pretty smokeable.

No I think it's too late-the top buds are smaller?-you will shock the plant and I'm not to sure if it will recover. If it does recover it will be a while but I wouldn't top it myself, hopefully someone else can give you a little more input on it. Try bending it a little more.

I'd LST (bend and tie down), if it is possible in your space. You will affect yield by topping at this point.

i got it in a dwc kit with 3 others. i actually only let it them veg out for about 3 weeks when i noticed its height and induced flowering to em. then next thing you know its 9 feet tall. ill see if i can bend it anymore than i got it now

spiral it a bit little by little and change the direction of your light for the plant to follow maybe?

he's right and that's why you should top it - shocking it will slow the vertical growth, i believe without hurting the cola development. check out partial harvest on this site and you'll see they're doing exactly what you're talking about.
