Hello everyone.
I am in mid 50s and my entire working career has been pretty much in the oil and gas drilling industry. I have been smoking weed since my early teens. I have found for myself, it is a much better alternative to pharmaceuticals. My past main hobbie was high-end PC building and competitive benchmarking. Over 30 years, I dumped 10s of thousands of dollars on now obsolete PC tech. Shit that became obsolete the day it was released. With the present state of the PC enthusiest world, I have lost a lot of interest. Manufacturers and vendors now scalping components to the highest bidder.
With that said, my priorities and interest have shifted. For the last 2-3 yrs, I have switched from smoking bud to making my own concentrate for vaping. In my mind, this isnt heathier than smoking bud, but less harmful. Is that analogy wrong? In my quest to make myself a quality product, I have invested in some decent lab equipment. Ultimately, I assembled a home cannabis lab. My method of extraction is ethanol. Some of the equipment I have includes a 2L rotovap, vac oven, vacuum pumps, -5C chiller/water bath for condenser, boro glassware, Buchner funnels, filter mediums,............So ya. Not pro, but a very functional home canna-lab.
I have little chemistry training. But I have an aptitude to learn something if it interests me. All I have learned has been from scouring the web and trial/error. I have found no definitive instructions on how to produce a quality extract from start to finish. Presently I am producing an extract I am very proud of. But there are some hitches still.
So here I am in hopes I can learn from this forum and enlighten me. As well as allow me to share what I have learned.
