Good evening and hello from the (rapidly thawing) Frozen North of Japan. Due to legal terrors and the incredible expense of purchase, I have decided to start growing my own. Browsing these (great) forums has been really helpful in getting a basic setup started, so I thought I would join up and introduce myself. That being said, I have some lights to go turn off.....expect plenty of stupid questions before too long!

Hello Chrysolite, I just joined this community. I'm from Florida. I'm a watercolor painter. I love Ukiyo-e. I've made quite a few paintings. They look mostly like Hiroshige's works. But, I love many Japanese artists like Hasui. Nice meeting you. Good luck with your grow.

I just read in the news today that the dollar nosedived against the yen (but that's what I get paid in), and our imports come from Russia, North Korea, Thailand, or domestically-controlled mafia-run grow-houses. Usual prices run about 8000-10000 yen a gram.....that would be eighty to a hundred US dollars, give or take. Sometimes it's possible to buy low-end product from farmers here in Hokkaido, but it's very difficult to make a connection, as it can be dangerous to be known as a consistent grower.
