Hello there

Hello all, a friend of mine who has been growing for a while now told me that to get my ph about right, mix rainwater which is acidic with tap water which around here is very alcaloid, the only problem is that i seem to have used rainwater from a butt which was infected:oops: and now have fungus gnats and their little white offsprings crawling around in the soil. I noticed on a site, shortcut: http://www.gardenbanter.co.uk/showthread.php?t=150971 third post down that you can use ground cinnamon which gets rid of flies and lavae, i know this was used on orchids and not weed so could anyone please confirm this or know if it would be harmfull to the plant or ruin the taste being a strong tasting spice? Thanks for your time :-)

You got to use normal water from a normal source.
Tap water is OK to use.
