Help - i got funguts gnats!

It kills everything known to man, and then some.

And this is the first time I've heard of any hydro grower having fungus gnat issues.
I had gnats in dwc buckets. One azamax drench and some dunks and they were gone. Yeah, you can get gnats in hydro.

They get in through the hydroton and lay their larvae in it, which makes their way to the roots and thrive in the environment. Never any dry time in there, it's paradise for them.

Those bastards, how they adapted to water grows I would imagine remains a mystery?.

I'm in coco.
I tried tobacco juice and they were doing back stroke in it.
The sticky pads work on adults
I am now using gnats off which was 20 £ and contains microbes to eat them
I found a sugar or vinegar trap just encourages more.
Maybe it's me who has another type of pest.

I tried everything organic, including cinnamon...the grow room smelled wonderful. After 3 months I threw up my hands, broke my own rules, and used the permethrin. It was also the one and only time I ever flushed a plant in soil.

When I had them after I got some new soilless I rinsed each plant off down to the roots before replanting.
Somehow I didn't lose anything in the process.
At that point I just didn't give a fuck anymore...
It did work, and I don't fear those little fuckers no more.

Let me be the first to tell you that sand is not a fucking solution. All it did was add unnecessary weight to my pot and complicate shit. I wound up digging out all of the sand and replacing it with perlite. I did the bug juice bath for the roots so hopefully that will solve my problem. I'll use it again on the next water feeding to make sure they're gonners but sand is just a waste of anybody's time.

I told you sand wouldn't work.
Yet you went ahead and did it after I said it would not work.
Is this not what this site is for?
Glad to see you gave your trial with the sand enough time to work.
What did you think they would see sand and keel over
In this game patience is needed.
You seem to have none as well as a short fuse.

enough w the, i told you so shit. sand isn't the answer, yet it can discourage adults and cut the larvae... I'd mix it with diatomaceous dirt too and primarily do this w younger veg. material. If you wait till your final repot w all that volume and in the 11th hour, well yeah it's kinda late to really help much. agreed, it is also harder to tell when to water. no biggie.

have noticed at least 3 ppl here say wte playsand sucks and im convinced that y'all missed the point. now pour a bottle o some shit on it.

15ml azamax to 32 oz water...spray on top of soil every other day for 10 days...sprinkle cinnamon (get it at the 99 cent store) on soil after spraying...they will be GONE! :)

gnats was the easiest shit for me to get rid off. I bought a bottle of go gnats. Mixed a little and watered. I didn't know they ate the roots of the plants, they just
got on my fucking nerves. Seriously they were gone instantly. I never heard of anyone "battling" them. They are just gnats.

Funny, must be 10 people here suggest some form of Bacteria Thungrsilis. It works, its natural, it's good for the plant, it does nothing to effect quality. Pretty funny to read all the things that might also work, and might effect the quality of product. Do what you want but there is at least a few of us that know that they are so easy to get rid of.

Yup, funny.

Already have the bug juice my local hydro shop stocks. It was like $24 but it makes 60 litres or some shit so it didn't seem like a bad deal to me as they didn't have the azamax.

This has been a good learning experience for me on many fronts A: Don't tend to your plants while drinking, B: Don't freak out, and C: heed the advice of the more experienced.

The mosquito dunks are working great and so are the sticky traps. I drenched the roots with the bug juice so hopefully they're on their way to dying off. They really didn't seem to be infested by any means...almost have to look to find them really but I know they can spread fast.

I'll let ya'll know how this brand of bug juice works in a few days. That sand was a pain in the dick let me tell ya...I was cussing up a storm last night as I dug that crap out of my pots. Live and learn eh? Next time, I'll stick with the A game and get the DE.

Get these items in when you first mix the soil and they'll be working and killing for 5 weeks or so.

Crab Shell Meal
Neem Meal
Karanja Meal
Nematodes
BTI

That's what I run with these days.

Cheap too. $8 for six dunks and that will last so long I have to replace them when old. Super cheap. If not at your local grow store check tractor supply or any hardware store. Fungus gnats are the same thing you call fruit flys and see around your bananas when you don't eat them quick enough. They move in every now and then. Every grower has had them and if you stay clean, and buy those dunks, or go gnat they will leave quickly. I have had the dunks get old and not work but spend $8 and thats fixed. So simple and it really does work.
