i put a sheet of panda film 6mm thick over my window and add a fan apter duck it about 3 feet to the my fan then the cool tube on one end. and i never add any duck the the other end cuz its bring fresh air in. and i live in a apt. so any way to reduce sound cuz i just turn everything off just like 10 min ago maybe some one here can help me out.

hey man yer i have the same problem,i built a box out of ply around my fan,wich is a 150mm inline,sound like a jet lol,and i compacted a heap of foam in the box all around the fan,and screwed it shut,now the fan noise is down to a pretty good minimum,still the problem tho of the suckin and the blowing, the only next thing i can think of ,wich im about to do is buy a fan controll switch to try and lower the revs a bit,cant think on any other way,but of course lowering the revs isnt always a good idea on your globe heat,its a tricky one :wall: im not real happy with cool tubes at this moment:(

Can you pin point the loudest part is located. Cause if its the fan, you can actually take and turn that van into sort of a homemade can fan. What size is it? You have pics?

And don't get so frustrated when people don't answer your thread. You can do a shnazzy bump to keep it in rotation. Remember, that this is a forum full o' stoners. Most people might know the answer but simply too high to type the answer. lol

Try this....

You may have to make new holes but put the fan in between the 2 flanges and make it a can fan and hook 4 inch ducting up to it. What size ducting are you using now?

and then you can get real creative with it and buy some elbow brackets from the home depot to flush it in a corner or against the wall out the way. You could make it real neat looking.

get a bigger tube ao it can suck air easier less negative pressure will cause less of the sucking noise but it wont change the fans noise itself. so really i would suggest a venting with more diameter. i can say i use a 133 cfm fan for a 150 hps in 4" ducting and it makes some noise but it is overpowered by my fridge and dehumey

also i just duck tape the heck out of it and place it behind the cool tube would tthat be a factor is that what the can fan is used for?

Now remember, we can't see your set up cause your pics didn't come through. But you're using a 6 inch axial fan, correct?

The ducting isn't attached flush to the fan so you are gonna have noise from the air passing through the fan as well as around it. you have to create a chamber for the fan to have air only pass through it.

=====<X>=====

[=] DUCTING
[<>] FLANGES
[X] 6 INCH FAN

Just make sure the flanges are 4 inch flanges that are wide enough to mount them on both sides of the fan.
