in the picture, you can see roots that are about 11, 17, 21, and 32 days old.

In the aero system, the reservoir level can reach anywhere from about an inch or two from the bottom of the net pot to about 2 or 3 inches below the bottom of the net pot so the majority of the root system is completely submerged.

in my bubbler system (which i never had much luck with) the water level was usually about 1/2 way up the net pot.

im using a 10 gal aquarium pump in the res. will that be enough.
I'd say if your reservoir is 10 gallons or less it will be fine.

i follow Earl's advice and don't bother with the air stone - i just weigh the tube down at the bottom and let the tube pump out big bubbles.

well i,m not real good at those more marginal ways of growing , besides the fact that your oxygen level has to be way up and that your depth has to be substantial for the roots to hang, If there is one thing i learned is don,t go extreme measure when you meet a problem just take a deep breath and calm down your desire to change everything, I say that cuz thats the way i am...lol

I would start by getting more lights for your plants and getting your ppm tested i started my babies with 30% ratio of what the manufacturer recommended and worked my way up slowly just to make sure i didn't burn them, and i had the contrary problem of nute deficiency, but then i adjusted slowly, i would suggest you get a ppm meter a lot of people sell them second hand on internet want adds and cheap too,

then stick with the system and work it, you got them this far so its not totally deficient as a system , check your plants regularly , by that i mean spend time with them , i spend about 40 hours a week in my lab just looking and checking and that way you will be on the ball as far as how they are reacting to your measures. but most important get your other cfl's close up and wait and see.

i had a cloner that i used without air stones and iI lost my babies, the stones help the air to make small bubbles that break evenly on the surface, so i would have to disagree

stones help make a lot of nice small bubbles rather than the tube making huge bubbles that sort of concentrate in one spot,,,, again a humble opinion

my reservoir is deep so it blows lots bubbles - looks like a jacuzzi! but if it didn't, i'd switch back to the air stone.

ok i just finished the light setup. i bought the right kind and 4 of them. 27w each and equal to 100w each so i should have sumthin around a 400w setup right. the ones i bought were at home depot but i had to goto lowes for the splitters. lowes is so much better. the have hps and metal halide lights and the rigs to get them up and running and for so much cheaper than the head shops. at what point should i try to sex them and should i do that before cloning. ive read alot of pages but none that really say when to clone. im also having a problem with stem growth. i have one thats my beauty i think its actually a dro seed that survived from my first set of seedlings and shes doing fine but my others just fall over when i put the fan on them. what should i do.

cuz sexing them means cutting clones, rooting them, and then putting them under 12/12 cycle to see wich mommy gave you females and wich gives you males if the plant gives you one male its garbage material. once you know you can go crazy cloning them,

for your stems well I would tutor them for a while and keep a fan on them but it doesnt need strong air current to strengthen its stems just a enough to keep it moving

example I started my fans on 1 out of a 4 speed cycle as long as it gets breezed to constantly move.

as for the mothers yes id like to keep at least one i want about a 24 plant SoG sys in the future and this is my starting test run.

so if you want to keep a mommy around you need to cut some clones as soon as your plants are strong again and root them wich can take around 15 days to do, then once they have good roots, stick them in the dark for 24 to 36 hours and then start your 12/12 cycle , you should see your plants sex in anywhere from a few days to 1 week, once you know you throw the males out and keep your best looking female as a mommy, and just flower the others,

I kept one mommy and started flowering 2 others that are now about 30 inches tall.

I cut my first clones when my plant was 1 month old.here is a pic of my babies in the beginning pic number 1 and pic 2 is my first clones
