New here. I am just an old fart who started a couple plants. Avid smoker and have been enjoying for well over forty years. I became disabled and I can not afford the prices so I decided to grow some from some bag seeds from a friend who usually has good shit. The plant was a slow grower. She was about 5 weeks old. The bugs are really bad here in Florida so I sprayed myself heavily with Double strength insect repellent. I didn't notice that the over spray was going all over the little baby. She was only 8 inches tall. Within a 15 minute interval it started to wilt away. I doused it with fresh water and waited but it is getting worst. Help me please.

Some insecticides react harshly when they are accidentially applied to a plant and the plant is young. was it sunny? There are some insecticides that hurt new plant tissue when applied when its hot or super sunny. Maybe the plant had been having an unnoticible problem for a while and by chance started to really degrade right before your eyes.Maybe you were just in the right place at the right time to see it. I know that deet will f-up tender plants but I only know this from experience. I have been working with chem's and pesticides for the last 10 years. good luck

It was only 85 today. It was so pretty this morning and after I sprayed, I was in mourning because of the spray. It was the fastest damage to a plant I have ever seen!!!

how long was she outside? Did you just move her out this week or something?
Plants need to be taken out for 4 hours a day to get used to the hot heat.
Or covered with shade cloth.

I know, I have 5 four footers that are going in the trash that look like yours.
Heat stress!

It has been outside since I started it. Today is cool compared to previous temps. Some days it was close to 100. It happened right after the over spray was applied. I drenched it with water let it dry and put it in the shade. I appreciate all the help and all the advise. Just a little sad because I now know I probably killed it.
