Help with carbon filter

Hey everyone I hope someone can answer a question for this noob. I am ready to set up my first tent, yesterday went to a local grow shop, told the guy what I was doing. I bought a carbon filter. A few hours ago I was checking my new toys out and took the filter out of the box. I have never seen one in my limited research. If its ok how the hell do I hook it up?

Thanks!

Hey Flatrate, there are a bunch of different ways to setup the carbon filter. What I do is have it hanging up high in my tent attached to the ducting, that then goes outside the tent and vents outside the house. Obviously you will need to also have an exhaust fan attached somewhere on the duct line. Some people like to have the exhaust fan attached to the carbon filter in the tent and others somewhere else on the line. I've attached a pic for reference. Also you can use one of the bottom holes on the tent as a passive intake, where the fresh air will come from, just leave it open and the air pressure from your exhaust should create a vacuum that will suck in the good air. Hope this helps as I'm far from an expert.

Well after jumping the gun, I pulled my head out of my ass, and looking at things!

Thanks life is pain, I really appreciate your reply. I got the the idea of how to hook them up, however when I pulled my new filter out of the box it is solid with two open ends, I was really confused. Were you able to view the photos I provided? As you can see there is no pre filter.

From what I can gather I will just leave one side exposed, pulling air thru the filter and out of the tent. I have only been looking into this stuff for a couple weeks, and personally have not seen one like I pulled out of the box, I was stumped.

That is an inline filter.
Its used much the same way as a normal filter. But it can go in different locations. Basically attach a fan and ducting to the output side of the fan and the filter on the intake side.

Thank you Coreywebster! Thats what I was thinking, like I said I am new to all this. My plan is to hang inside the tent into the fan and run ducting out the top! Now I am just wondering why the guy at the shop sold me this model? Don't get me wrong it looks kinda cool, and I am just happy it will work.
