Help with cfl's please

oh do those have to be wired to cords in order to plug into an outlet? the $70 one with reflector isnt bad either. htg is good shit.

Dude, how do you go from talking about e-conolight to HTG, do you work for them ? Part of the company ?

The fixture we talked about from e-conolight is made to be wired into a junction box. So you either get a junction box or wire nut on a cord. I usually get a heavy duty extension cord and cut one of the ends off and use that.

They were talking about both in that thread looks like you are one ahead of me. Sorry.

I didn't even see, on the same page there was another 150 HPS and it's only $20. Looks like the difference between the 2 is the $25 one does 120/277 and the $20 does 120 only.

$20, you can't beat that. It looks to me like it comes with the ballast, Heck a bulb is $20 by itself isn't it ? I'd email and ask them first about the ballast before I ordered just to be sure.

I looked and the bulb is $6.

yup. ive seen bulbs for up around 20 tho so i thought it might just be that. im not sure who were even helping with this right now i got all the lights i need haha

I know what you mean, not really part of the club until you can shut the furnace off in the winter time because your lights just came on. LOL.

I still need to get a 1000 watter and then I'll be done.

Isn't it funny how all the new people don't want to spend the money on an HPS light despite anyone with experience telling them it's the way to go. Buying the 1000 watt HPS in the beginning would save you so much money in the long run. Instead you end up with a stack of every flourescent combination known to man laying in the corner, then some small wattage HID's because you were too scared to get the bigger ones because you don't really need that much light and the heat will burn a hole in the floor.

My rule of thumb is get the biggest HID you think you'll need and then buy the next size up.

It's too bad that some of the people get confused with the labeling on the flourescent because the package says it is the same as a 300 watt bulb it isn't because it is only burning 60 watts so they think they are doing better when in reality they aren't.

I hope the person that started this thread goes ahead and gets the HPS, I'm trying to convince who I can because if you can get that 150 for $20 there is no reason not go that route.

yup i got 65w floodlights for veggin that say 500w output lol. also say 7000 lumens when really its more like 5000. 400w hps is plenty for me. i had a 1000w before and it basically set my plants on fire lol. no way of running that in my closet without proper ventilation.

So those 150 watt $20/25 HPS lamps with ballast are good deals?

How many would one need to grow 2 plants in a small cabinet?

I was planning the CFL route but this seems too good to pass up...

Yep the three of us can have our own club.

I think I'm done for the night, I'll catch you guys later.

yeah one 70-150 hps will do 3-4 plants good in a small closet grow

Awesome.
Why aren't more folks using this lamp then? The price of that full HPS package is the price you'd pay for the CFL bulbs only...

Will that HPS be adequate for the whole grow? Or will I need to add in some 6500k CFL's for vegging?
Sorry for the ignorant HPS questions, but I've only been researching CFL's so far as I'd ignored HPS since I figured it was out of my budget.
