help with drying problems

Hi,

I harvested about 2 days ago and i have a problem maintaining the right temperature and humidity in my drying space (which is the actual grow room)
The temp goes as low as 55 and the RH up to 65 during the night.
My main concern is the possibility of molding and longer than needed drying time
I do have a heater and a dehumidifier but i am wondering if turning them on would be detrimental to my buds, being overly dry and what not....Any suggestions and ideas on how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Dnoob

I find that my bloom room makes a good drying room too. Plus it has smell control.

The only time I've seen mold is if I put the nugs in jars too soon, or fail to vent the jars.

Thanks Burrr, it is my bloom room as well...with the fans, carbon filter in it (the works but with no living plants in it) Its well ventilated and exhausted, my main concern is the numbers, 55 temp low and 65 to 70 RH high during the night, are theses numbers going to be OK as i dry my buds or should i make changes, and if so what do you suggest.
I mentioned the dehumidifier and the fan heater but i also have concerns there that they might fry/over-dry my nice purple kush buds :)
Thanks again.

I have the same conditions in my room. :) my last harvest dried perfectly! still sticky and fragrant without being to dry or too wet. It hung in the room for about a week before trimming close and jarring up. I'm smoking this stash now, it's very nice!

Honestly I think the temperature is a little forgiving as far as rising and falling goes. whats mostly important is that its dry and not freezing. I would use the dehumidifier though, couldnt hurt. if its not humid it wont turn on

since you have a dehumidifier, the higher humidity will actually help you achieve a longer hang dry time than if you had a real low humidity and its dry in 3 days.

you can run the dehumidifier which in turn will raise your temp in the room. a digital display is nice to have on the dehumidifier. mine has the room temp and the RH.

under your conditions i would let them hang for 2 or 3 days with ventilation on and a small fan moving some air but not blowing on them.

then i would run the dehumidifier at 65% with ventilation off. checking them often. maybe when i go to bed i might turn off the dehumidifier and turn ventilation on. run it at 65% for a day or so.

then lower the dehumidifier to 60% for a day, then to 55% and so on.

at around day 5 or 6 you can be down to around 50% humidity setting and the buds will start to crisp up on the outside.

at day 6 or 7 you can be taking the buds off the stems and jarring or in paper bags for a few hours before going into the jars.

if in the middle of the hang dry you think you might be drying too fast, you can turn off the dehumidifier and turn on your ventilation. with your humidity it should moisten them back up a bit.

all i have said can varry a little due to your different environment and dehumidifer settings. it is so much easier to know what to do if they are hanging in my room where i can see them and touch them. lol i hope some of this helps to at least give you some ideas. just be sure to check them often when using the dehumidifier so you dont dry to fast.
