I'm smoking for about 6 years now, and began to get interested in growing recently. The reason is that, on wikipedia i was reading that its tolerated by the law to own a plant for personal usage in Belgium, wich is where I'm from). Ive looked around for some time now for some info, but some sites contradict other sites and i got a bit confused. This seemed to be the best place to ask questions and get help, so here we go:
-1 What's an easy to grow plant which is fairly forgivable (not so affected by mold or other common problems), has a nice yield (also maybe fast yield?), and nice taste (white widow, nlx, Buddha cheese etc would be so awesome) Preferably one with sweet oders or one that doesn't oder much?
-2 I know there are some on-line seed shops/seed banks, is it legal to buy marijuana seeds? If not, do the seed shops/ban,ks guarantee the seeds get delivered (insured delivery), so my money wouldn't get wasted?
-3 Would fluorescent lamps work well? They keep the electrical bill down, and give out alot of light, then when i put them vertically on opposite sides it would light the whole plant.
-4 What are the minimum dimensions my cabinet would be? I was thinking on 50cm X 50cm x 150cm, would that be enough?
-5 Does the cabinet NEED filter? I was planning on putting in regular 120 mm (or bigger if i can find it) PC fans for ventilation. Is the filter for the smell or what?
-6 Does it need to have CO² intake?
-7 Ive seen auto flowering seeds/strains. What does it mean? Do regular strains not automaticly produce flowers? Do the flowers need incimination by a male cannabis plant?
I'm planning on automating the cabinet's watering system, ventilation and lighting with an Arduino (micro-controller) and some relays, motor graded contactors and a electric water valve. (i studied industrial electrics in highschool, so electrical part wouldn't be a problem)
Some guy in my class said he made a cabinet like this, but i havnt seen it before, i dont know how big it is, what lighting system he uses etc. I will go to his place some time soon to check his setup soon, will post pics too.
More questions will follow as i need them, will also try to keep this thread updated as i progress. The deadline for my bud smoking time would be end of august, at a Belgium festival.
