Help with new Aeroponic grow

I'm starting my *first grow ever*. A couple of my friends have done closet grows before but I want to make the best garden possible. A little about myself: I love engineering type projects and have been building advanced projects all my life (homemade jet engine, hybrid potato gun, etc.) so I thought I would try to build the most technologically advanced garden possible (within reason). I'll be living in a 400sq ft apartment so it must be ultra stealth, very low noise, and zero smell from the outside the apartment. I have a budget for this project about $1,500 and will grow 4 (more? less?) plants.

Is there any must read threads/guides/parts lists for a TRUE aeroponics system as I'm a little lost on exactly what I need to put one together (I understand how it works). I know despite my best planning, I'll run into mistakes, so I would like to learn as much as possible from you all before I start. I welcome any suggestions, advice or help you have to offer!

So far the main components are (leaving out the obvious like mylar for the walls):
Cabinet (will fit in with all the other furniture I have) ~ 72" high; 36" width; 24" deep
Ceramic Metal Halide lighting 400w with a Gavita HortiStar 600 reflector
Panasonic WhisperCeiling 80 CFM with a carbon filter for ventilation
True high pressure Aeroponics system

im actually working on building the most technologically advanced garden right now. my system is a pressure fed air atomized aeroponic system, you should watch for my construction thread sometime in the next 10 days. you could build a scaled down version of my system with a hps light, a black mylar tent, siphon fed aero, and fertillizer. for way under $1500

hell yeah

30 dollars for a pond pump,
14 dollars for pvc pipe connectors, cement primer
20 dollars for a 50 gallon roughneck tote,
20 dollars for a big bag of red aeroponic sprayers
like 30 dollars for net pots and neoprene collarshttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Ez-Turbo-Clone-replacement-inserts-5-ea-6-colors-30pcs-Neoprene-Collars-/170807160121?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27c4e66d39

been there done that
but you really only have an nft sytem because it soaks the shit out of your roots. and you have to worry about all the other problems associated with recirculating hydroponics. ph, has to be checked constantly. resevoirs have to be changed frequently to avoid having high concentrations of buffers like calcium and phosphorous. there is no root rot due to optimal levels of oxygen. and nutrient temperature isnt nearly as important as dissolved oxygen content is always high in droplets of around 50 microns diameter.

i check ph every 3-5 days and that is more than needed. i dont consider that to be constant. i change my res's every three weeks. never had root rot. different ways but all work.
