Help with overcrowded and stretchy autos with no room left.

More blue spectrum will keep the branches and leaves more tightly packed, too much red without enough blue and you'll get stringy plants that will just get taller and not produce a dense crop, you can also try to light from the sides. If stretching branches have leaves etc spaced far apart it's the light spectrum.

Week 8 of my two autos. Been trying to do mild lst to lower the tallest buds but this is getting out of control and I’ve run out of room. Not sure what to do now aside from keep on bending the taller stems over.

I also have some weird nute deficiency so I did a complete water change today.

28”x28”x60” marshydro tent, mars ts1000 led at 100%, rdwc, res at 65-68, 78F in tent and 50rh. Nutes at 900ppm/1.8ec using distilled water and gh flora nutes at 1/0.5/1.5 ratio with 4ml/gal calmag, 1ml/gal 34% H2O2 added every 3 days. 5.9 pH. 2 fans under and above canopy with filtered air blown in and hepa filter inside tent providing additional airflow, exhaust fan controlled to keep rh under 50. Never had a root issue, no bugs.
I haven't grown in 40 years, but know a lot of science stuff. What exactly are you using distilled water for? It has no minerals, the only thing it would be good for is for adding moisture to the air.

Also ts 1000 is only 150 watt it should be practically touching the top of your plant once in veg. Also get bigger light or add a few cfls
Was getting what seemed like light burn when it was too close. I wanted to scrog but the tent is just too small for that and I didn't really have lst figured out yet so I just let it grow. I'm pulling down some of the taller branches and will be getting some light bars to supplement soon.

What do you mean what am I using it for? My tap is complete shit so I'm using distilled/ro water.

Are you sure that is fast buds strawberry pie?

85% indica 15% sativa. Should have fat leaves. Not be long and stretchy.

I hope mine grow that big

I have fat thick indica leaves on mine

Nice I had a 16”/16” /4’ scrog net and 390 watts at about 2&1/2 feet away perfect canopy but with that light you can go 6” easy

Does you have any pics of the 16x16 scrog, that's a bit of a novelty size I'd like to see it if possible?

Whats different about the Mars light to yours or others?
Wattage...I also had that light but returned it good for vegging out but your gonna need more power then that. Also the the size of the light itself is small Mars you wanna go with either 3000 or sp not the 250 even tho the 250 is wayyyy better then ts 1000

Gotcha. Crazy how big they got. Hope mine grow that big.

How long did they vedge for? That pic of mine was 22 days after putting them on the rocks. 24 days after towel.

Strain info below. The tallest buds are only a few inches from the light but off to the side. The bulk of the taller buds are about 12" but there's an "indent" in the canopy where they're about 18". This light seems too small. Feels like the branches on the edges are stretching.

First grow.

Strawberry Pie, 85% indica, 8-9wks to flower, and 24-39" (60-100cm) is what's reported. My tent is 62"/160cm and I've done a decent amount of LST but it seems like both plants are stretching a bit. I may need to move my fan and filter outside the tent and hang my lights at the very top.

Supercropping during flower? isn't that too much stress? I guess I'll look into it if my lst doesn't work. They're gonna look like a cannabis bonsai.

There is a difference between distilled and reverse osmosis water, at least from a lab perspective. What is in your tap water that is so bad? Chlorine?

This is my first grow so I'm not too sure about what constitutes the transition from preflower to flowering, but the flowers and frosting started to develop at about wk 4-5.

Hmmm, I've mostly been buying "purified/RO" water from the water store but have had to buy a few gal of distilled from the store when I didn't have time to run to the water store b4 they closed. I guess it's mostly RO water then. I just test the PPM and the water used was always between 2-10ppm. My tap water is super hard ~360ppm and is pretty shit. Even my fridge-filtered water is around 250ppm. I figure it was easier to control nutes w/ a known water source.

I have looked at the light output curve of the Mars TS1000 and as I remember it is good for seedlings to young plants and flowering, It tends to the heavy side on the blue light, but that is better than not enough blue. Believe it or not, Cree's Horticulture series of LEDs doesn't include the CX COBs as no matter what temperature you pick the output is less than ideal for all stages of plant growth. Red tends to be vegetative, but if there isn't enough blue in the right nanometer range, your plant can get stringy and branches and leaves will be spaced out too far. Light is a much more complex thing than most people treat it as. As the seasons change, so do the amounts of the different wavelengths of light because it has to travel through varying amounts of the atmosphere. Same thing with the time of day. Plant strain genetics have a role to play in the optimum light wavelength exposure as well because Indica and Sativa are from different parts of the world and even though almost all pot is a hybrid, you can't just rewrite a plant's genetic code for the preference it has for light wavelengths. Artificial light intensity drops exponentially with distance, the sun's light is the same at 50 ft above the ground as it is at ground level. I guess all I am suggesting is to experiment and write down what works and what doesn't.

Try using a Zero Filter, it softens hard water. PPM meters actually measure the electrical conductance of the water and depending on whether the water is soft or not can make a huge difference, water softeners use sodium to alter the form of the magnesium and the calcium in the water and also replace some of it with sodium ions. you cannot measure a water's softness with a PPM meter. Water is like light, complex, LOL.

I've done a little bit experimenting, I've found good compact plants can be grown with hps through to cfl/fluorescent, personally cfl/T5s make plants to compact for my grow but for the right period or bonsai mothers they're excellent, I think it's then its up to the growers technique/style, stretch isn't all bad.

It's all very interesting but it doesn't transform into better weed, different lighting lets me manipulate the plants to my liking/grow.
Have you completed many crops?

Not in a long time, but back in the very late 70's is when I grew my first plant inside and was hooked. Then into the mid 80's I did. There was still a lot of experimentation going on as to hydroponics and what was best. Lights were high-pressure sodium and metal halide, as well as fluorescents. i am looking forward to using LEDs. I don't have the space to do anything very big now. In college, some friends and I rented what amounted to a garage with electrical service and grew in that. I certainly do not mean to step on anyone's toes. I am far behind in the growing end of things, I just happened to work in labs and for a company that was a distributor of LEDs amongst other electronics. Kind of on the order of Mouser or Digi-Key. I have been on disability for about 4 or 5 years, but tried to keep up with the electronics and chemical equipment sales thing in case I could get a part-time job, but with COVID, there are none. I sold my house, a three-unit when I went one Fed. disability. Have to deal with what space I have or can get my landlord to let me use in the basement. I was always of the opinion that the quality was basically in the genetics and the yield was in growing technique.

It's a weed, and flowers grow in the dark, not the light. Bend those bitches over by pinching stems so they don't break, then tie em down. They will recover the pinch very quickly.

If your unsure, just do one or two stems today. Then you will see by tomorrow the result. Then you will have confidence to do them all.
