help with res

Hey guys I am growing 4 plants in an ebb and flow system. I had some extra Advanced nutrients lying around so I figured I'd use those. They are the pH perfect technology line. I have a 100L (26gallon) reservoir feeding the system. The nutes are supposed to keep your pH dialed in for around a week, about the time you are supposed to do a res change. my pH keeps drifting up to like 7.1-7.4 and i check it every day and throw in a little pH down to get it back down to 5.5-6.5. I feel like I'm having to use too much pH down or too often. My ppm in week 1 were like 600, I just used some rapidstart and clonex clone solution, its like a mild nutrient you put in a cloning box. the plants seemed to be growing fine and colors were normal. Week 3 theres yellowing, interveinal chlorosis. this is my first grow with every aspect of this style, hydro, hydroton, ebb and flow, advanced nutrients. Week 3: 1500ppm, res temp gets to 74F, pH wanders up from 6.1 to 7.1 Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You should never mess with the pH Perfect nutes or bother checking the pH at all. You should also be using RO water with them but you don't specify what you are using.

I've used AN since '01 before pH perfect and have used the pH Perfect for 10 years or more in lots of DWC grows and ProMix HP with RO or distilled water only and long ago retired my pH pen. I was doing DWC in Rubbermaid tubs from clone to crop without once changing nutes and had no problems. Waste of good nutes and money to change every week but they like you to do that for their bottom line.

Looks like you may be locking out some nutes tossing in the pH down so do a change and leave it be and see what happens. For plants that size I would be running around 500ppm or 1.5ml/L of all 3 bottles in DWC. I have low RH all the time except summer so never exceeded 800ppm and that was for known hungry strains.

You have nice healthy top growth so it shouldn't take much to get them flying right.

i use tap water , but i run it through a boogie plus filter. it is activated/catalytic carbon, and has a copper membrane to remove chloramine. my local water has chloramine in it not chlorine. the ppm of my water after the filter is 19-40ppm. its probably as close to RO water as you can get. have been debating setting up a system, i would just need a very large reservoir. and yeah idk i heard its supposed to keep it in range but i check it daily and it goes to 7.1pH which is so weird. they were growing great for a while but i hurt my back, waited an extra 3 days to change my res, so 10 days instead of changing it at 7 days, and algae had grown in it. so i dumped everything, ran hydrogen peroxide through it, and then just added the whole AN line. I have like 2 bottles of it all except rhino skin. I substituted it with general hydroponics silica. but AN recomends 1000-2000ppm, so i thought i was good. idk was thinking of scrapping the run, cleaning everything and starting over. i could have cleaned the hydroton better and ran them through h2o2 instead of just water. i could have placed the brain bucket outside of the tent so it doesnt heat up as much, and i didnt have a lid for my res so i bought one for it. temps got to like 74 degrees F. id love to discuss it more, you seem to have knowledge of both hydro and AN. couple questions, you say u do 800ppm max, ok so that means cut the dose in half. since my res is 26gallons (100Litres), AN recomended 200ml of everything youre suggesting i cut it in half to 100ml of everything and that should cut my ppm to around 750ppm then. and dont even worry about the pH just let it do its thing?

That filter is probably not removing any bicarbonate which will add to the buffering all ready present in the AN nutes.
