Hi there... I live in the U.K and i have never been able to get those CFL curly bulbs.... I use a 10 inch 250 Watt CFL in the blue spectrum (6500K) it cost about £60 and it says on the box 19500 lumens This is for the veggin stage and then I swap to a 600 Watt HID lamp with a Grolux bulb for flowering...
In my experience the CFL's are not that good for flowering, The buds are get really fluffy and it feels like there is no substance to them...Unless you are using the CFL's because you cant use HID for a reason then i would upgrade..

Dont get me wrong they are really great for veggin and keeping your mother plants but sodium is far superior for flowering than the next best thing.....Its a bit of a let down when you spend 12 weeks looking after plants by making the enviroment perfect for them and you end up with really fluffy finished product because of the light your using...

hope it helps

P.S the cannabis grow bible is also a great book to use

Its also about how you get the lumens... 250 Watt CFL gives less lumens than 250 Watt H.P.S......You will get heavier more compact buds from H.P.S....
I think CFL is even better than M.H for veggin cos you can keep the lamp about 3inch away from plant tops so less lumen loss...
