After your plant grows about or 5 nodes, top it right after the split just cut it off and the two side brances right there will start growing up as the main cola, so instead of 1 cola there will be two colas, but this can cause stress on the plant and cause it to tern hermy.
Well I wouldnt want it to turn hermie! What are the advantages to having the 2 colas over the 1? Is it worth the risk of stressing the plant? are there any ways to relieve plant stress so I can top it and have less risk of it becoming a hermie? Should I wait til flowering? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks

Could depend on the strain that it is, could be the size of the container the roots could still be spreading in search of nutrients and taking hold if in a larger grow area. Be patient, and don't feed them until they get atleast 2-3 nodes on them or else you will stunt their growth. Hope this helps.

hi, I found some pin size holes one leaf of five. looks like it was poked out from the back side. front side is a bit curled outward [the hole].
Some holes are irregular and some are round. there is a faint tan ridge around the hole. This little girl was in the veg room growing.
this did not happen with my first crop. this is my second crop. thanks for any info. Jan:cry:

Fluorescents are cool. You gotta have a few around each plant and keep them almost touching the plants or there won't be not much bud production. They burn really cool too so its safe to have right up on em. I start seedling/clone for a couple weeks b4 going to mh and iv come home to them touching the lights with no burn

What kind of lights are you using? It could be not enough light. And were they clones?? There's been a lot of clones goin around with faulty genetics being that they are from later generations and so on

Hiya,we have just bought 5x el nino fem seeds that are splitting nicely using the wet tissue method,we have a small cupboard setup and would like advice on the best soil to use from the start,we would prefer a soil that can be used from the start to the finish of the grow to keep it simple.any advice would be appreciated.

hey, I'm in the 8th week of flowering. I'm supposed to be harvesting this friday. But I'm still not seeing many amber trichomes. Pretty much all my fan leaves have fallen off, they started getting yellow at about 5 1/2weeks into flowring, and many of the bud leaves are getting yellow, brown and crispy (will that affect the quality of the bud?). I've been flushing with molasses and water for the past week. What I really want to know is, if all my fan leaves are gone, and the bud leaves are dying off, will the trichomes continue to ripen and turn amber? Or is the THC production complete? Is it ready for harvest, if not, how long should I wait? (my avatar pic was taken today, not sure how to post pics yet)

Your fan leaves will turn yellow and fall off that is all part of it, but if your pistols haven't turned amber yet, even the slightest lil bit, i wouldn't harvest yet. It won't hurt to wait one more week to see if they turn amber, also it depends on what strain it is. Sativas seem to take around 11 weeks, while indica dominate usually take 8-10 so keep that in mind, but the decision is urs. If i were you though, i would probably wait atleast one more week. Hope this helps.

Pretty much all the pistils (except for a few newer ones) have turned pink/purple. It is the trichomes that have not fully matured yet. They are still clear and cloudy. I just want to know if the buds can generate energy on their own to produce THC until they are at their peak potency. All the leaves are pretty much gone, so I just need to know if keeping the plant alive longer in 12/12 will help it reach full maturity. Thanks for the advice.

naaa they wernt clones and im using a 250 watt hps in a 1x1x2m growtent
How close is your light to the plant? Have you been using any type of nutes? Sounds a lot like there's not enough lumens for the plant to reach full potential.. or you ended up with some runts

However depending on strain, your probably only half way (if that) through flower. You should see at least somethin more soon

Hey FIRST TIME GROW NEWB, I just received my 10 seeds from nirvana (northern lights) and they're currently germinating in the paper towel with paper plate method. After they germinate I think I'm going to start them in jiffy pellets, then transplant them into a soilless mixture. My question is, is that after they get big enough so that i need to transplant them into the soil mixture, what sized pots should I use? Should I first use 6 inch pots, then once i see signs of sexing, i translate the females into 1 gallon pots? I'm using a stealth grow setup in my closet at home and I can't start all the seedlings in the larger pots, not enough space in the closet, what do i do???

Thanks!!!

Since I'm here, I think I'll give some advice. You want to transplant as least as possible, I prefer 3 times. Start them in something small (excess soil leads to overwatered soil). I use plastic cups with soil mixture (soil w/ mycrohorrizae, (good bacteria) look it up). Jiffy pellets are ok, but I don't see the point in them. I don't know why you'd want to go to a soiless mixture and then to a pot of soil. If I were you, I'd just put the jiffy sprout straight into its 6" container, but then again, I grow my sprouts to about at about 2-3" in a cup, then put it into a 6" container, then when its large enough, I put it into it's final resting place (8-12"pot) usually a 1-2 weeks before I switch to flowering. I like to keep the plant in soil from the beginning to the end, never disrupting the roots by switching the type of medium. You want the plant to experience as least stress as possible. If you're tight on space try Low Stress Training, they have multiple threads about it. Good Luck. Hope this helps.

hi ..this is for masterofgenetics..
please can you advise me ? :
my first grow : soil, plagron bat mix, 11 litre pots. cfl lights, lowryder2 feminised seeds from picknmix seeds.
been on 24/0 from start and have just switched to 18/6 because no sign of budding.
quite strong and healthy looking but almost 17inches tall now, on day 52.
some very tiny little white? bumps showing but not developing..so not really able to sex.. but were sold as femised seeds {£10 each !!!}
should i change lights again ? running out of space and time as super stealth grow.
smelled quite strong a few weeks ago but hardly smells at all now.
have been giving small amount of biobizz bloom, and watering when soil appears to be drying out...plant seems happy enough with this , but as i know absolutely nothing, i could be doing something really wrong ?!
switched from blue cfl to red cfl a few weeks ago .
also using a red led panel and still have a bit of blue on the side.
this is a medicinal grow and i had hoped to be harvesting by now..is much needed .
thanks very much for your time xx
