Over 50??? Hell, I turned 84 last Friday. The birthday party was at the trim table.
Depends on a lot of things, but one thing to consider is inflation. Lets say your balance is $1000 and you just happen to have that much. That $1000 has more purchasing power now than it will have in a few years. But, there is loan interest to figure in, too. Tough call.

The problem with Medicare is the doctors is the “payscale”. AMA predicts a 3% drop in 2024. If i went to a doctor i’d slip them a hundred dollar gift card for dinner.

I need to read up on all this medicare information thanks everyone
Yeah, there's a lot to take in. There are some penalties attached if you delay or fuck things up so be aware of dates and such as some penalties are a permanent increase in rates.. Research if MA (Medicare Advantage) or regular Medicare, with supplemental insurance (MediGap) and a Plan D (Pharmacy) is best for you. You'll likely be bombarded with lit for both. There are a lot of insurance (read, NOT your friends) people out there hustling both MA and MediGap policies.

These people (Michael and Joann Quinn) were real helpful in assisting me with decisions (no charge, frankly I don't know how they make any money). Joann especially will talk with you via phone or text and is very responsive. This was 8 years ago and I'm glad to see they're still in business.

pm me if you have any questions. I'm no expert but maybe I can steer you in the right direction.

So far so good with Humana but heard they are making changes.
I had Humana part D drug coverage and dropped it a few years ago. Fuckers were ripping me, I went retail and also used Good RX occasionally and saved $135 a month total. Now I pay around $34 every three months with Dir-x (Direct RX out of Florida) but their selection is limited.

If you're faced with high prescription med costs/copays, there are organizations out there that will help you either with manufactures drug assistance programs or grants/funds that will help to pay all or part of associated costs. Many are disease specific and are mostly geared to the horrendously priced meds, but not always. PM me if you have questions.

Even Walgreens drugstore can set you up for huge discounts. They tried to get me to enroll in their program but my insurance has one that's better. Talk to the pharmacist at different places and see if they can set you up on a prescription program.

I just got out of the hospital Friday morning after getting two heart stints on Thursday. Went straight to the lab to show my sister how to make RSO. Being messed up on meds is more debilitating than being stoned and I screwed up the whole batch.

Saturday was much better. After trimming in the afternoon we went to my granddaughter's wedding.
It was a real honest to God Oklahoma Cowboy Wedding. Nine butiful bridesmaids and ten real cowboy groomsmen.

The bride and groom did the two step, not the typical waltz. I didn't get to dance with her but I did with with Ms DWW. Hard to do with a walker, never used one before but they took my cain away.

The folks at the ranch where it took place were worried about having over a 100 cowboys and a bunch of farmers in one room at the same time so they had three sheriff's deputies on standby. We didn't need them.

So I am on the FEHB...was thinking of doing Medicare A&B...with the Blue Cross Blue Shield...but I get that until I'm 65 per contract negotiations when they bought out my contracts...and I am retired...after that I'll go to TRICARE...insurance is such a difficult major expense now a days...I remember when it was not.
Sir, I hope I am 84 and still at the trimmer table!

And a wedding too, you're blessed. That's the stuff you stick around for!

I think that was the end of pushing myself. Couple of months ago I was working in the garden, now I don't have the energy to even look outside. Guess I'll keep doing it though. The doc says that's what's keeping me going.
