Thats the craziest thing I've heard. Instrumentals is the soul of the song. I buy every instrumental I can find to go with the full lp. All true hip hop heads love the beats!! That box set is the shiittttttt!! Close your eyes listen to the beats and free your soul!! :peace:

most definately,
im looking at getting a usb numark tuntable so that i can make a digital library of my wax. just trying to fin space for more music gear and the $$ to get it.
I got the Ion usb turntable. Money well spent. It comes with audacity. I spend a lot of time recording from wax to mp3.. You wont regret.. :peace: It was fairly cheap too its so lightweight. I just use a good needle.

Nah, i have to disagree with that right there. You can have a crazy catchy beat but if you lyrics are whack, the whole song it whack. Lyrics > Beat.

But i understand what you're on about, i view it from the opposite way though :hump:

Umm yeah your trippen.. A phatt beat shouldnt have wack ass lyrics that would be the problem... A bad lyricist is its own problem.. A tight flow to some wack ass beat is only good as the first time you listen to it.. A good combo last much longer but a tight beat lives forever and a tight lyric can always be added by your own soul.. Use your mind more than others Dawg!! :peace:

ohh bro no you didnt just say that! with no beat all lyrics loose pal, the beat it was its all about, you die when your heart stops, your soul dies when the beat stops.
in conclusiion BEAT>LYRICS. and saine420 (*hand slaps*) word!

Well i agree with you both to a certain extent but it depends what you mean. For example, i was talking about people like g-unit who spend all there money on beats but have whack lyrics, obviously that was the worst example ever but the only thing i could think of off the top of my head.. hmm. I know what you mean beats do play an important part in hiphop but when an MC is spending way more time on dope beats than lyrics, it may be a club banger, but doesn't appeal to me i guess.. what was i on about?

ahh yeah know what you mean , and hell yeah 50 is wack, someone should have finished the job and shot him once , dammed fools.
like everything for it to be great it needs to be balanced, so great beat great lyrics great scratching etc, one can not excel without the other parts.

So, whos your favourite hip-hop artist at the moment?
For me, it would be DJ Muggs vs. GZA, I got their album the other day, soooo good.

Hmm.. when did we get onto DJs? anyway my favourite, mainly old school

Scott La Rock R.I.P
Jam Master Jay R.I.P
Terminator X (of Public Enemy)
Stoupe the Enemy Of Mankind (of Jedi Mind Tricks)

I'd say what makes a good deejay is uniqueness. Take Stoupe for example, he uses classical symphonic samples to make music for JMT, that is unique.

As a DJ I can tell you not to book me for your club. I can do whatever but it's just whatever. I spin because I worship music. Looking for something from a DJ really depends on the situation. It's really not much different from MCing. Not all MCs move the croud; not all Djs rock the house, but you can appreciate them all. You can anyways...

So to break it down:

club djs need to keep the girls on the floor - shaking that ass
mixtape djs need to keep the new music on your stereo
scratch djs remind you that all that itching makes you scratch
the rest of those djs that aren't suckers remind you that music is good and you should open your fecking ears :blsmoke:

Butall djs should have one foundation skill which is matching what you do to the audience that is listening.
