I started out following my mom through her gardens rows of vegetables, not gardening but enjoying the dirt. Eventually planting my own rows of various stuff.
Fast forward 20 plus years and I have my own place w a veggie garden.
I think it's 16x10ft.
We plant everything from seed.
48 tomato plants
72 heads of romaine
32 potato plants
Pack of pea seeds and some beets and carrots thrown in the dirt.
My kid has been in the garden since she could kinda walk.
I have a few Mom's I'm keeping so they are getting big and pretty bushed out. I plan to clone and flower again.
Should I consider showing my kid who is only 5, how to clone and grow?
It's secret so far.
But cmon, it's a matter of time before she starts asking about the "electrical room" in the basement and what's inside. Just an old bedroom the fuse box is in.
Or is this something I should just keep to myself as is?
Would you come forth and tell or just as before, say nothing.

Sharing day at school could get a little dicey.

I once sat and listen to an 18 yr old brag about the weed his dad grew to people he had just met at a party.
Bragging aside, his dad is a top notch outdoor farmer on a large scale.

That kid had only met those people that day.

What makes you think a 5 yr old will understand the rules of "fight club"

learning to clone properly is hard.....you should start her out trimming. Cloners are a dime a dozen, the world needs more trimmers. teach her to trim and she will have a job for life.8)

Unless you're in a legal growing state, I wouldn't show my MJ grow to my kid. Even then, it probably isn't a good idea. I've been growing in the same place since my kid was nine years old. He knew it as Dad's office, and of course, he was quite curious as to why no one but me could ever go in there. I told him that I had very sensitive information in there pertaining to my job (I worked from home), and that I signed an agreement with my company to keep it safe. He eventually found his way in there when he was about 13, and didn't let me know he knew. But he did write it in his MS Word journal. He didn't think my growing was a big deal, he kinda admired me for it. We had The Talk a few weeks later, and I stressed how important it was that he never say ANYTHING to ANYONE, or dad would be going away for a long time. He was very good about never saying anything, and we erased that journal entry. I was/am a single dad, and he really liked us having money. For a few years before I grew, we were pretty broke, and he remembered how that was. Knowing my grow provided money for vacations, video games, cool summer camps, and an all around better quality of life, he was really good at not saying anything. Plus, I think he really liked sharing a secret with dad that no one else did, a nice little extra bond. Now that he's 19 and living on his own, I started to teach him to grow, and he helps out with the harvests in exchange for weed. Just popcorn and some frosty trim, not the primo buds. I'm happy that we enjoy each other as people, and MJ is just another thing we have in common. It's nice...

I went through this with my son. When he came home from school at about your girl's age with a D.A.R.E. weed scratch and sniff. Weed was illegal at the time here. And the "man" was tricking children into breaking up homes and jailing parents as usual. We seriously discussed the issue. In it's full truth. What, why, how and effects. Reached and understanding that I was in danger of going to jail and him of losing all he knew and valued for just another plant. After we reached an understanding and he showed his commitment to it I slowly began his education on gardening in general. Fast forward 10 years. He is addicted to plants and gardening. Has no curiosity or desire to mess with weed beyond seeing to it's health. My greatest asset in my garden today.

I gambled with honest truth based on facts and my values. My son has all his questions answered. And he will not be sneaking around experimenting in the darker shadows of the drug world. And he can properly grow abundant food from any start source.

My story. Use your judgement and situation in your response. Just remember we are drawn to curiosities and secrets for life. Be aware of her curiosity. Peace and best wishes.
