Looking to order a homebox L here real soon but i want to make sure i have everything right before i order it all. Anyone growing in a homebox l would be great help.

So this is what i am wanting to get. Homebox L, 600w digital cooltubed.
Homebox L : buy-the-homebox.com - universal indoor grow box kit
600w digi : High Tech Garden Supply.

250 CFM Duct Fan : High Tech Garden Supply

Ok so my questions are about the intake / exhaust. With the "passive" intake through the flaps would this 6in 250CFM duct fan work to cool off the light and cover my exhaust? I was going to use this fan by pulling air through the cool tube and push it out of the homebox through the roof hole and have a carbon scrubber on the outside of the box or have it in the box and pull the air through that first, than cool the tube than exhaust it out of the box.

should i get a 4in 80cfm duct fan also to intake air through the bottom hole to help or will that 250cfm fan work with just the passive intake?

I would go by the area of the intake, If it is less than the area of the exhaust, (9Pi)" then you definitely want to get active intake, either way I don't think it would hurt to get it.

that home box thing is sweet, would have saved me a lot of time/money haha.

I just set up a HB L, but I ran a dedicated line for cooling. I bought two 6" double flange kits and have them mounted high and centered on the side walls, with a 6"vortex on a variable speed rig pulling air straight through a Sun Systems super sun II reflector. The reflector runs very cool, and the variable speed on the fan lets me regulate temp nicely. Galaxy 600W ballast runs the rig. I wanted a lumitek but herd of one too many falures.

For fresh air I have a 4" vortex also on a variable speed controll bring fresh air through the tent and dumping it out through my home brew carbon filter.

I went with a dedicated line and fashoned up an easy height adjustment set up with a piece of broom handle and a 3/8" dowel.

great selection, are you using two seperate rooms for growing and blooming? if so, you can use FL tubes for growing and HPS for blooming

So it seems like i am going to get a 8in 500CFM duct fan from htg and also a 6in 250cfm duct fan.

Going to use both of them on the exhaust / cooling the cool tube. When the light is on ill use both fans on, and when the light is off ill only use the 6in 250cfm to keep blowing to keep odor down.

Heh,
Sorry no pics yet, I am still figuring out the photo posting thing, stealth and all. I will post some as soon as I get that crap worked out.

From everything I read during my research for my tent the Vortex fans are the best. Also the prices at that link are the best I have found. Mane2008 listed best suppliers at the top of one of these boards and it was in there, he saved me atleast $200 so far(thanks man). I compared the prices all over the net and that is the cheapest.

I went with the 6" high output for mine with a variable speed controll so the fan is not working as hard so sound is less than at full speed.

And like I said with a 10 year warranty you can not beat that.

Yea i got one and from the same place.
use the black straps to hang your fan.

you would need a duct reducer to use a 8in fan
home box only has a 4in and 6in.

I talked to some guy on gc who is using a homebox also, his set up he is using a 8in duct fan he said it fits in the 6in in the homebox.

The vortex looks good but 149 is pricy, that 8in duct from htg is only 49 and moves 500cfm.

i still really havent heard why though pay for a vortex? what is so special about vortex fans? Has to be something for people to pay that extra 100 dollars.

its rated for constant use, it really will move the amount of air it says it will, and it has either a ten year warranty, or it hass a lifetime, cant remember what it said. I use a 6inch 449 CFM on a 424 cfm can filter and it does fantastic. that is in a 8x8x7 room. if you run that in the tent, ur plants will transpire way too fast causing a high tds in the root zone when nutes are introduced. you could get away with a 150mm (6inch) 250cfm axial fan, for $80 shipped. then u will need a small intake fan too tho. or just get the Vortex with a fan controller. Then you can set it to a lower CFM.

oh my homebox doesn't stretch it's a bitch to fit the 6in inside the 6in. Only part that stretches is the 4in and the electrical outlets holes.
I think that bra has a duct reducer.
