So, today has been an adventure to say the least, after finding out yesterday I have beenmisdiagnosing my plants for weeks now and my problem is root aphids. Phylloxera, anddd they are rugged, i spent around 4 hours reading forums, studying, etc etc. Today i took action, I rooted up all seedlings and soaked in warm water (at the cost of a few) and then microwaved ALL my soil for 30 mins (about 2 gallons of soil per 30 mins) and now have it freezing outside overnight (northern maine) in hopes the 5-10 degree f weather will freeze whateverifanythi g isleftin there. (I know the eggs stay dormant in winter months but i have high hopes the heat killed the eggs. I plan on ordering hb sc and (sb? Nematodes tomorrow and will do a couple applications ( i also have them in my vermicompost bin which sucks even more than my soil since i just started a new run a couple weeks ago, but ill be dosing the bin with nematodes to in hopes of riding it of these peskykittle assholes. (For now though the bin and soil are completely seperated and the vermicompost bin will not be touched untillnematode innocylation to avoid any extrsa b.s. transfers (if there is anyhing left in soil its very little. Anyone else have anymore suggestions for soil or conpostbin? Id imagine iwikk have to reinocylate beneficial bacteria insoil after thatheat as wekl huh?
