Horses

god damn, gas went up again 15cents in my area, and i bet in some cities people are already paying over four bucks a gallon. I have seen people around my university talk about riding bikes and alternative transportations that dont rely on gasoline. How come nobody has thought of a horse? Fuck i would ride a horse, i dont have far i have to go for anything, and i am sure it would make traveling across the country much more memorable. Shit if the horse dies at least you can eat it....

On one hand, as a horsewoman I say yeah, great! On the other hand, as a horsewoman, I say fuck that shit.

A horse needs to be fed at LEAST twice a day.
You've got to float their teeth at least twice a year.
Gotta worm them twice a year.
Gotta get them reshod or trimmed every 6-8 weeks.
Gotta keep them in fresh water every day.
Gotta clean up their shit at least once a day (unless they're pastured).
Gotta pay attention to that horse every day.

My motorcycle, on the other hand, only needs my attention when it's convenient for me to pay attention.
Only needs new skins when I've worn down the old set.
Only needs gas when *I* need to go.
Only needs basic maintenance when *I'm* ready or in need.

I won't be hit as hard if I have to put my motorcycle down. I had to make the decision to put my first horse down when I was 12yo., then I got to watch as the large animal disposal hooked up my friend from her back feet and dragged her body into a nasty-looking truck. My bike feels no pain.

wow dont have those problems on the rez execpt worming them. Everything i could do on my own good thing my pa tought me all that stuff...

I'm happy about prices.
It's like $8 in Spain, so, I'm not bitchin'.
