How bad is the smell really?

I need to ask about smell while growing. On another forum people have been giving ominous warnings that I'll stink the house out and (by implication) the cops will soon follow. Been told to get a tent, fans, carbon filters etc. I really don't want to go down that path, this is just an experiment in growing a (possibly very) small quantity for personal use.

If I'm growing three plants on a window sill, will it really smell that bad? The strain is based on Loeryder, the exact name is "Quick One" by Royal Queen.

Anyone have experience with small scale grows using a Lowryder variety? Will it stink out the whole block or will my neighbours hardly notice?

Id say yep if decent buds produced without vent it smells. kinda a waste of time and energy on the window thing unless perfect conditions. No ventilation and carbon filter not going to work on smell in late bud. yeck just do it cause the worse thing can happen is throw them in the trash if you don't like the plan as it progresses. about bringing attention? That is a personal situation to be determined. as a kid hasn't everyone thrown a few seeds in the garden or pot inside and out to see a plant hopefully bud. 2 cents worth.

Maybe a dumb question but you're worried about cops and odor and NOT worried about plants openly visible in a window sill?
I can camouflage the plants, I have some strategies figured out for that. But now I'm concerned that the smell will be the main issue. Or maybe I'm just attracting comments from people who grow larger, more aromatic plants in tents, and I'm sure they do smell a lot...

Three plants on a windowsill will work fine because they'll never make it through flower. To actually produce any bud you'll need either a decent light or you'll need to plant them outside.
I'm supplementing sunlight after sunset with LED lamps until midnight, to give approximately 18/6 light/dark schedule. May not make much difference but I'm trying it.

Assuming it's not legal to grow where you live, why bother risking your freedom for a crap windowsill grow? You're less likely to get caught and more likely to get some decent smoke if you just do it right
My thinking is I'm much more likely to face legal consequences if I have a "professional" setup. Whereas a couple of plants on the window sill is obviously an amateur... :)

Legally it will be seen as a personal grow either way, and if caught you'll be sentenced the same. I recommend taking the appropriate measures and not getting caught...
wasn;t going to say something about that comment but just not really thinking it thru if that's top of mind. I'd make a joke about it but not really funny. Some just aren't ready to be a grown up yet

if you are just growing on a window without any experience, a lowryder variety, that plant will be so pity that both smell and legal consequences will be the least of your concerns.

You know what would really camouflage the plants? Putting them in a tent where nobody can see them and using a carbon fan so nobody can smell them.

I have a two tents in a spare room. No carbon filters. The room itself smells, but with the door closed there is no smell from outside...but I leave it open anyway because it smells good.

Someone did a windowsill grow here a couple years ago. They got like 3 grams, but it worked lol

I've seen a few different examples of sunlight indoor grows. Some were just not working right, spindly plants, not much bud. Others were pretty impressive. Maybe for a first timer I'll be more like the former, but hey how do you get experience anyway?

LOL...ok...so half-ass "crimes" are punished less you think? No, they just look at you as more of an idiot who did nothing to conceal himself.
Depends where you are.I read up on the various cases locally, and the laws. Under 9 plants is usually a police caution or if you're unlucky a fine. Above that it's a different class of offence with harsher sentencing.

Yeah, and nowhere in those sentencing guidelines is there an exception for the plants being shit. They just count them and value them at a grand a piece for the newspapers. On the plus side, it'll be the only time your shitty plants will be valued that high.
