How do I get rid of gnats

Unfortunatly i do not see a way to control them with good soil. Im guessing you are just making the environment unlivable for them? If there was a way to dry the room up 100% for 2 days they will leave.....but larve could stay.....
Hmm...I dunno then. I haven't changed temp or humidity, water schedule. The adults only live 8 days so I expect I'll see more soon. :wall:

I disagree to the fullest. With all respect to you.
I do not see the "limitations" you speak of ? "Unsuitable" is just plain , the wrong word.

generally speaking, hydro grows faster. (in real life its because most "soil" growers are not there yet...)
In real life , i know plenty of dirt guys that cannot speed up things by switching to hydro.

I sit 100% opposite from this.
Organics is by far the hardest method to master but organics can surpass any other method without hesitation.
just the fact of having to enter in the room when lights are on is crippling for me

i dont how much runs you have under the belt, but after a few sessions you will realize how these lights are bad for us even with the proper protections
personnaly i cant enter in a room with hps anymore

only hydro allow you to automatize things so you never need to enter the room during the day

plus you can hybridize hydro by innoculion of good bacterias/fungus and get the benefits of organic with the grow rate of soiless mediums

Why would a soil guy need to go into the dark room ? im lost. I been growing in soil and soiless for over 20 years and only been in the dark room less then a dozen times and not one of those times could of been prevented with hydro.
In respect to that statement , there is ZERO difference in hydro and soil.

ALL lights that bright are bad for us and will have an effect on your eyes over long periods of time. Luckily i can still see but i NEVER look up with hps or led.

Sure you can inoculate the medium. I doubt it helps much in a hydro setting but i cant disagree with that.
