Well, I have germinated some seeds that I got out of my street deals, thrown together my first ever grow room, bought a light and begged, borrowed or stole....(not really the last one, I'm not like that)...some bits and pieces to get me going.
Finally I just got a fan and I want to know how to match it to a carbon filter cos the 3 shops I been in have all tried to sell me something different.....The fan is a VENTS VK150...495m/3 per Hr. Anyone got an idea what size filter I need, I am growing in a 1.2x1.2x2.0 budbox.
Your fan is close to 850 cfm, so you'll need a filter thats rated for that airflow. A Can Filter 100 is rated for 840, so seems like a good pairing to me. Or you could get a Phresh Filter 10" x 24" rated for 850 cfm. Or a Carbonaire 8" filter.
Just one other thing... If the carbon filter says 420 cubic M....Should the fan move more air or less air??
I don't want to put strain on the fans motor or shorten the lifespan of the filter cos i am pulling to much air through it..

You'd want a fan of equal value I believe. Anything stronger and you risk pulling air through the filter too fast resulting in poorer performance by the filter. You could go with a fan rating a bit lower, but not too low as it would likely have problems pulling air efficiently through the filter.
